Job Description – Senior Manager – Production, Maintenance & Quality

Role Summary
The Senior Manager – Production, Maintenance & Quality will be responsible for leading end-to-end factory operations, including production planning, quality assurance, machine maintenance, manpower management, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing while consistently meeting production, quality, and delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operation
- Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve production targets while maintaining quality, safety, and delivery commitments.
- Monitor production planning, WIP flow, machine utilization, capacity planning, and schedule adherence based on customer demand and material availability.
- Drive production efficiency through effective resource utilization and process optimization.
Production Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Stores, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Prevent production disruptions through proactive planning and inventory coordination.
- Ensure seamless coordination between production, maintenance, quality, and logistics functions.
Quality Assurance & Maintenance
- Implement and sustain Quality at Source (QAS) practices through SOP adherence, in-process quality checks, and process controls.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for quality and production issues.
- Manage preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and manufacturing best practices.
Operational Excellence
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and continuous improvement projects.
- Lead automation, productivity enhancement, cost optimization, waste reduction, and process standardization initiatives.
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to productivity, quality, downtime, rejection, OEE, and operational efficiency.
Manpower & Team Management
- Plan manpower deployment, shift scheduling, workforce utilization, and performance management.
- Build a high-performing manufacturing team through coaching, mentoring, and skill development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Educational Kit Manufacturing
- Manage manufacturing operations for educational kits involving multiple components and high SKU volumes.
- Oversee Bill of Materials (BOM) management, kit assembly, production planning, quality control, and dispatch readiness.
- Optimize assembly processes to improve productivity, accuracy, and delivery performance.
Systems & Compliance
- Utilize SAP S/4HANA for production planning, inventory management, maintenance tracking, and reporting.
- Prepare production MIS reports and dashboards using Advanced Excel.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, EHS standards, quality systems, and company policies.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Factory Operations.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, CAPA, and Continuous Improvement.
- Knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, inventory management, and manufacturing KPIs.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and Advanced Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
- Experience in educational kit manufacturing or other high-SKU assembly-based manufacturing environments will be a strong advantage.
