About RaveumRaveum is a cross-border fractional real estate investment platform focused on US commercial real estate, primarily net-leased (NNN) assets. We currently serve two investor channels: Indian investors investing under the RBI Liberalized Remittance Scheme (FEMA-compliant, under SEC Regulation S), and US accredited investors verified under SEC Regulation D Rule 506(c). We are freshly funded and scaling our platform, team, and operations. All investments carry risk, and our engineering culture reflects the seriousness of operating a regulated financial platform.
The roleWe are hiring a Senior Manager Engineering. This is a hands-on reliability and governance leadership role, not a pure management seat. You will take ownership of a working, revenue-generating production platform built by the founding team, and your mandate is to make it robust, secure, well-documented, and no longer dependent on any single person, including you.
Expect roughly 70% of your time on engineering governance (security, data governance, infrastructure, release discipline, documentation) and 30% personally shipping fixes and improvements in production code. You will work directly with the C-Suite and inherit deep context from the founding engineers through a structured handover.
What you will own- Production reliability and security. Own the security posture of our AWS estate end to end: audit logging and detective controls, IAM and access hygiene, network hardening, secrets management with rotation, and MFA enforcement across the organization.
- Data governance for a regulated platform. Own our MongoDB Atlas environment: database consolidation, index and schema discipline, per-service least-privilege access, and verified, tested backup and recovery for investor and financial data. Audit trails and data recoverability are compliance obligations here, not hygiene chores.
- Infrastructure as code and CI/CD discipline. Bring an EC2, Lambda, and Amplify footprint under IaC (Terraform or CDK) without downtime. Harden GitHub Actions pipelines so checks actually gate deploys, and establish clean environment separation.
- System consolidation. Map, document, and rationalize the full platform, including legacy services, and plan and execute migrations and retirements with clear cutovers.
- Release and account governance. Move mobile (Expo/EAS, App Store, Play Store) and third-party accounts to organization-owned setups with documented recovery owners.
- Engineering standards. Set the bar for code review, documentation, incident response, and on-call as the team grows, while still shipping yourself.
Our stackTypeScript/Node.js (Express, Mongoose) microservices, Next.js portals (App Router, BFF pattern), React Native/Expo mobile app, MongoDB Atlas, AWS (EC2, ALB/ASG, Lambda, SQS, Cognito, Amplify, S3, SES, ECR, SSM), GitHub Actions, Docker, Strapi CMS, n8n workflow automation, Stripe and international payout integrations.
Must-haves- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years owning production reliability or security for a system handling money or regulated data (fintech, payments, lending, brokerage, or equivalent).
- Senior-level TypeScript/Node.js in production. You can read, reason about, and safely modify a multi-service codebase you did not write.
- MongoDB at production depth: replica sets, index design, backup and point-in-time recovery, access scoping, and at least one live data migration you planned and executed without loss.
- AWS security engineering experience: you have stood up detective controls (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Config), redesigned IAM toward least privilege, locked down network exposure, and moved secrets into a managed store with rotation.
- Hands-on AWS operations across a comparable footprint: EC2 fleets, load balancers and auto scaling, Lambda, SQS, Cognito.
- Experience adopting infrastructure as code onto an existing live system.
- Backup and disaster recovery design with actual restore tests, across databases and object storage.
- Experience inheriting an undocumented or lightly documented system, mapping it, and either stabilizing or retiring it.
- Ownership of incident response: on-call design, alerting, and postmortems you personally ran.
- Proficiency with agentic AI coding tools, Claude Code specifically. You use it daily, you know how to scope tasks for it, and you rigorously review and test what it produces before it touches production.
- Clear written and verbal communication in plain English, including to non-engineering leadership.
Nice-to-haves- Expo/EAS and app store release management, including account or organization migrations.
- AWS Cognito, including user pool migrations.
- Stripe or other payment and payout integrations (Wise, Tipalti, or similar rails).
- Compliance program exposure: SOC 2, ISO 27001, or SEC/RBI-adjacent audit experience.
- Next.js/React at review depth; Python for Lambdas; CDK.
- n8n or comparable workflow automation; Strapi or headless CMS operations.
- Cross-border India/US fintech context (LRS remittance flows, accredited-investor onboarding).
Who thrives here- You document by default and leave systems more explainable than you found them.
- You impose discipline without stalling delivery, and you can defend that tradeoff to a founder.
- You are energized rather than paralyzed by nobody knows what this does.
- You treat access to investor data, audit trails, and retention as regulatory obligations and escalate rather than improvise.
- You take handovers from founders by working with them, not around them, and you actively avoid becoming the next single point of failure.
Who this role is not for- Pure people managers without recent hands-on production work.
- Engineers whose first instinct with a working system is to rewrite it from scratch.
What we offerMeaningful ownership of the engineering function from day one, direct partnership with the founder, and the chance to define engineering standards at a regulated fintech at the ground floor.
