Position: Senior Engineering Manager - Sanctions Screening Platform

You will be joining a brand-new Technology Platform team founded at the start of 2023 to address the Technology needs across our Legal and Corporate Affairs business.This organization is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies to improve the business's experience with personalized and automated end-to-end digital journeys and with machine learning components providing Intelligent compliance screening and processing solutions to optimise and drive efficiencies in our business processes.

What you will do

As Senior Engineering Manager you will be accountable for the deliverables of up to 4 scrum teams. The accountability spans across both quality and timeliness of the deliveries as well as the adherence to coding, design and architectural practices. You will ensure that the team collaborates with Product Owners following agile development practices while driving smooth collaboration with the broader team, leaders, and other engineering teams.

Along with this you will act as people leader for the team setting clear directions, ensuring high engagement and motivation while keeping a constant eye on development and growth opportunities for everyone ensuring the whole team can thrive at Maersk.

Key Responsibilities

  • To own, influence, decide on technical / solution architecture, infrastructure design, UI/UX design, quality standards, development process / methodologies, frameworks, tools & technology choices in alignment with Maersk Architecture guidelines, Design Principles and Methodologies
  • Build and lead high-performant remote engineering teams with high degrees of psychological safety.
  • Foster an inclusive team culture that enables team members of all backgrounds to succeed and thrive.
  • Develop and review complex technical requirements and translating them into actionable tasks for engineers.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and act as main POC for their team across a large organization.
  • Drive end-to-end architectural discussions across teams and organizations.
  • Empower, challenge, and coach team members to grow their impact as individual technical leaders by providing them with context and continuous feedback
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and consensus-based decision-making.
  • Defines and help develops POCs for new and upcoming strategic technology solutions.
  • Defines team wide engineering best practices and mechanisms to measure the adoption.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you can offer:

Minimum 5 years of experience in leading one or multiple teams, with around 15+ years of solid software development experience

  • Experience analyzing, building, and implementing open source technologies.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and Lean Development Principles using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CICD) with GitHub and infrastructure as a code
  • Strong knowledge in data structures, algorithms, design patterns & Clean architecture principles
  • Experience delivering cloud based solutions that operate with large volumes of data and strict non-functional requirements around performance, flexibility, and scalability.
  • Strong knowledge in design principles/methodologies such as SOLID, 12 Factor App, XP methodologies, TDD, BDD, Agile Scrum
  • Strong knowledge of Domain Driven Design & Event Driven Micro Services Architecture.
  • Good to have knowledge of front end JavaScript framework for instance vue js / react js
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities and direction may change rapidly as customer requirements and market direction changes
  • Having familiarity with machine learning and data analytics provides an additional benefit.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to drive conversations across multiple teams to a conclusion.
  • Have experience in building, growing & retaining a sizeable team of engineers
