Job Description

Aptean is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to join our team. You'll be responsible for the full development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, designing, coding, debugging, release, and deployment, utilizing standard concepts and principles. This role requires applying independent judgment to determine and execute solutions under broad guidance, while contributing as a fully integrated team member.

Scope

  • Knowledge: You'll use wide-ranging experience, professional concepts, and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Complexity: You'll work on intricate issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors. You'll exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results, networking with key contacts outside your own area of expertise.
  • Supervision: You'll determine methods and procedures on new assignments independently.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop regression impact analysis for customer-reported use cases or bugs.
  • Design high-level and low-level architecture for functional requirements, transforming them into marketable features or use cases.
  • Develop software for database functionality, GUI-based applications, or web-based supporting tools.
  • Demonstrate strong command of the primary product's technology.
  • Adhere to best coding practices and software control systems.
  • Exhibit expertise in one or more modules of the product.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of core modules of secondary products.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and the regional team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (Required). Master's degree or MCA (Preferred).
  • Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 4+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 2 years with a Master's degree; or equivalent experience. The typical range is 4-8 years.

Skills and Abilities

Technical Abilities:

  • Proficiency in writing, debugging, and maintaining COBOL code.
  • Proficiency in handling and manipulating ISAM files.
  • Familiarity with the Eclipse IDE and graphical screen design.
  • Nice to have: hands-on experience in Java/JavaScript/SQL/ASP.
  • Nice to have: experience in Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Nice to have: experience in Android app development.
  • Familiarity with unit testing to control quality.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall.

Functional Abilities:

  • Experience working in the ERP domain, specifically Warehouse/Stock/Inventory/Sales Order Processing/Purchase Order Processing/Financial Ledgers.

Analytical Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to debug and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to perform impact analysis for changes in software or database structure.
  • Skilled in translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proficient in conducting data analysis and creating comprehensive reports.

Soft Skills:

  • Good interpersonal communication skills and experience working with a Global team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Adaptability to learn and implement new technologies and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
