Role Description

• We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Associate Data Security Engineer with a strong aptitude for software development to join our Data Security team. This role is crucial for assisting in the design, implementation, and automation of security measures that protect sensitive data across Deutsche Bank.
• The Associate Engineer will gain hands-on experience in configuring, engineering, and integrating Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions within our complex enterprise environment, with a particular focus on leveraging software development skills to enhance automation, integration, and solution capabilities. While operating within Cybersecurity, this role involves collaboration with IT, Risk Management, and Business Units.
• The ideal candidate has foundational security knowledge, is eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, and possesses nascent software development skills to contribute to our evolving data security landscape.

Your key responsibilities

• DLP Solution Support & Configuration:Assist in the configuration, deployment, and ongoing management of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions (e.g., Symantec DLP, Zscaler). Support the team in troubleshooting issues and ensuring tools are effectively protecting sensitive data.
• Automation & Scripting:Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate routine security tasks, generate reports, integrate security tools, and enhance operational efficiency within the Data Security domain.
• Policy Assistance & Testing:Support the development, testing, and refinement of data loss prevention policies and standards. Assist in validating policy effectiveness and minimizing false positives.
• Cloud Security Integration Support:Aid in the implementation and integration of cloud-native security controls (e.g., CASB, CSPM, DSPM) to protect data in SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS environments, with a focus on scripting and API-based integrations.
• Data Discovery & Classification Support:Help deploy and manage data discovery & classification tools. Assist in implementing automated classification and labeling strategies, often through scripting and API calls.
• Monitoring & Analysis Assistance:Support the monitoring of data movement and usage to detect potential policy violations. Assist in incident analysis and documentation.
• Collaboration:Work collaboratively with senior engineers, IT, and other teams to understand requirements and implement data security solutions. Contribute to technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Documentation:Maintain clear and concise documentation for configurations, automated processes, and security procedures.

Your skills and experience

Technical Expertise

• 4+ yearsof hands-on experience in IT, Software Development, or Information Security roles, with a demonstrable interest in data security.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language(e.g., Python, PowerShell, Java, Go) for automation, data processing, or system integration.
• Foundational understanding of data security principles, including data loss prevention (DLP), encryption, and access controls.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and an understanding of SaaS/PaaS/IaaS concepts.
• Exposure to security tools like Symantec DLP, Zscaler, PaloAlto, Fortinet, or Microsoft Purview is a plus.
• Basic understanding of network security, endpoint protection, and Identity & Access Management (IAM) concepts.
• Experience with APIs for system integration is a strong plus.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Azure/AWS Security Fundamentals) are a plus.
