We are seeking a highly skilled Senior R&D Engineer (Electrical Engineering) to lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced plasma lighting systems. In this role, you will drive the development of high-performance electronic subsystems, including high-voltage power supplies, RF drivers, control electronics, and monitoring systems that enable efficient plasma generation and long-life lighting performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a key role in new product development, manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives, helping bring innovative lighting solutions from concept to production.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and optimize high-voltage, RF, and power electronic systems used in advanced plasma lighting technologies.
- Create electrical schematics, PCB layouts, block diagrams, and system architectures for plasma lighting drivers, power supplies, and control circuitry.
- Develop innovative solutions for plasma ignition, sustainment, monitoring, and modulation to improve performance, efficiency, and reliability.
- Lead electrical design activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, supporting product development from concept through production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations to deliver robust and manufacturable solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support to the Plasma Lighting Test & Maintenance team.
- Conduct root cause analysis and partner with Quality Assurance teams on failure investigations and corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, manufacturability, and production efficiency.
- Support manufacturing transfer activities and oversee production implementation to ensure successful product launches.
- Travel regularly to Batam to support production operations, NPI activities, technical troubleshooting, and process improvements.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on power electronics, RF systems, high-voltage electronics, or related technologies.
- Hands-on experience designing power supplies, control circuits, and electronic systems for industrial, lighting, or advanced technology applications.
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power conversion, and system integration.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting electronic hardware from concept through production.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design principles and regulatory considerations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigation skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to travel regularly to Batam to support manufacturing and NPI activities.
Nice to Have
- Experience with plasma lighting, plasma arc systems, gas discharge lamps, RF-driven lamps, or plasma-based technologies.
- Knowledge of RF power generation, matching networks, and high-frequency electronic systems.
- Understanding of plasma lighting manufacturing processes and production environments.
- Experience supporting NPI, manufacturing transfer, and product commercialization activities.
- Familiarity with failure analysis methodologies and quality improvement processes.
- Experience with PCB design tools, simulation software, and laboratory test equipment.
