The Team
The SAM Transition Team ensures designated software titles are authorized, actively managed, and successfully transitioned into sustainable SAM operations. The SAM Transition Specialist will serve as the operational bridge between the Software Review Team (SRT) discovery function and SAM Operations, managing the complete transition of newly assigned software titles from identification through sustained compliance by SAM Operations. Additionally, the SAM Governance Specialist may also facilitate removing titles from the operation when functionality is no longer required.
How You Will Contribute
- ITAM Programme Governance – Plan & Build
- Own process governance for newly assigned or software titles identified to be removed
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for remediation cycle times and success rates
- Develop and execute automation and tooling roadmap for new titles entering SAM
- Plan, execute, and report on remediation activities for designated software titles
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Engineering, Legal, Global Security Office, Data Privacy, Vendors, Business Units, IT Business Partners and the Office of the CIO (OCIO)
- Asset Inventory & Renewal Management
- Manage new software title discovery and inventory across ServiceNow, Intune, SCCM, and Active Directory
- Update and maintain the master software catalogue in ServiceNow SAM Pro for new and offboarded titles
- Implement new titles into SAM Pro environment, including testing and validation
- Coordinate renewals with vendors
- Coordinate initial procurement for new titles in collaboration with the SAM Operations Team
- Communicate status, timelines, and actions to end users and business stakeholders for new titles
- Apply hardware asset management (HAM) knowledge to cross-asset considerations
- Compliance & Risk Review
- Analyze and assess license terms; coordinate legal review where needed
- Review vendor contracts, assess risk and pricing, and negotiate terms to optimize cost and compliance
- Ensure data protection and compliance checks with Data Privacy team
- Manage business sponsor engagement and sign-off throughout remediation
- Coordinate technical implementation of new titles with Engineering teams as needed
- Facilitate business unit implementation through ITBP
- Manage financial implications and budgeting with OCIO
- Document remediation and governance decisions in ServiceNow KB
- Leverage AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT) for analysis and documentation
- Manage timelines and dependencies using project management tools such as Jira and Project Portfolio Manager (PPM)
- Assess SAM and HAM impact of changes
- Software Intake & Validation
- Collect and validate software requests in collaboration with SRT
- Validate catalogue entries and cross-check against master inventory
- Categorize and route requests to appropriate remediation to prepare for BAU
- Monitor SLAs and manage remediation queue to ensure timely processing
Qualifications
- Technical & Tools
- ServiceNow (SAM Pro, ITAM module, reporting)
- Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Power Automate)
- Power BI for KPI and compliance reporting
- Intune, SCCM, and Active Directory (asset discovery/inventory)
- HAM Pro or equivalent hardware asset management system
- Jira and Project Portfolio Manager (PPM)
- AI tools (Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT)

- Experience
- 5-8 years in software asset management
- Experience with software licensing, compliance, or vendor management
- Experience managing projects through multiple phases and stakeholders
- Familiarity with ITAM frameworks and governance (ITIL, ISO 19770-1, or similar)
- Procurement or contract negotiation experience preferred
- Familiarity with current ITAM managed titles
- Success Metrics
- Monitor Remediation cycle time for assigned titles
- Measure % of titles successfully transitioned to SAM BAU per quarter

- KPI targets met (cost savings, compliance rate, automation adoption)
