Staff Analog Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer | Bangalore
I'm hiring the founding analog design team in Bangalore for a deep tech company building photonic computing systems. This is an individual contributor Staff role with block ownership from spec to silicon, on a new chip cycle starting later this year. First design hires in India, reporting directly to the Director of Analog.
The role
You'll lead the design of precision mixed signal building blocks supporting photonics enabled computing. The focus is data converters, precision references, biasing circuits, and actuator drivers used to control and tune integrated photonic components. The role spans system level architecture through transistor level design, plus integration of third party IP to deliver complete mixed signal subsystems. You'll work closely with photonics engineers on control and monitoring circuits for photonic devices.
Responsibilities
Define system level architecture for mixed signal subsystems supporting photonic control and monitoring.
Design and implement ADC and DAC architectures: SAR ADCs, pipeline ADCs, current steering DACs, resistor string DACs.
Design precision references and biasing: bandgap references, current references, bias networks, LDO regulators.
Design heater drivers and precision current sources for thermal tuning of photonic components, plus monitoring and feedback circuits for actuator control.
Integrate third party IP including ADC/DAC IP, SerDes and PHY interfaces, and memory blocks. Map system specs to IP capabilities and own subsystem integration sign off.
Develop and maintain AMS verification environments using Spectre and AMS Designer. Build behavioural models in Verilog-A or wreal.
Evaluate performance through corner analysis, Monte Carlo, noise analysis, and linearity measurement: INL, DNL, SNDR, ENOB.
Define test strategy and DFT hooks. Support silicon characterisation, validation, and production test correlation.
Requirements
MEng, MSc, or PhD in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
8 to 10+ years of mixed signal IC design experience.
Proven ADC or DAC tapeout experience, recent.
Hands on transistor level design in Cadence Virtuoso with Spectre and AMS simulation flows.
Experience designing precision references and biasing circuits. Practical experience with heater drivers or precision current sources.
Experience integrating third party IP into complex mixed signal systems.
Scripting in Python or MATLAB for modelling and data analysis.
Breadth across multiple analog and mixed signal blocks rather than deep specialism in one.
This is a design seat, not a management seat.
Recent silicon matters more than team size managed.
Nice to have
Familiarity with silicon photonics components: ring resonators, Mach Zehnder interferometers, thermal tuning elements, phase shifters.
Calibration and control techniques: background calibration, trimming, temperature compensation.
Power management architectures including DC-DC converters. Experience with noise isolated mixed signal floorplans.
None of the photonics is a dealbreaker. We'll teach you the photonics. You bring the analog.
