We are seeking a Senior SAP Lead Software Engineer with deep expertise in core SAP (ECC and S/4HANA) and SAP PI/PO integration to lead the design, development, and execution of enterprise integration solutions. This role is a blend of hands-on technical leadership and strategic direction, responsible for driving scalable, reliable integration architectures that power critical business processes.
You will serve as a technical leader and mentor, guiding integration standards, influencing architecture, and ensuring high-quality delivery across SAP and connected systems. The ideal candidate brings strong PI/PO and ABAP experience, a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, and a passion for elevating engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Integration Leadership
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise integrations using SAP PI/PO, with exposure to SAP BTP Integration Suite / CPI as a forward-looking capability.
- Define and enforce integration architecture standards, patterns, and governance across SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Drive adoption of robust integration patterns (IDoc, RFC, Proxy, SOAP, REST, event-driven approaches).
- Own end-to-end integration lifecycles, including design, build, testing, deployment, and support.
Core SAP & ABAP Engineering
- Provide deep technical expertise in ABAP development and SAP extensibility, including:
- BAPIs, BADIs, ALE, RFCs, IDocs
- Enhancements, User Exits, Dynpro
- Guide performance optimization and scalability of high-volume SAP integrations.
- Ensure best practices in transport management, version control, and change governance.
Integration Operations & Reliability
- Lead production support and incident management, including root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Establish and maintain monitoring and alerting frameworks for PI/PO and SAP integrations.
- Drive system stability, performance tuning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Architecture & Strategy
- Partner with enterprise architects and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable integration solutions.
- Contribute to the SAP integration roadmap, including PI/PO modernization and migration strategies toward cloud-based integration.
- Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and best practices to improve integration capabilities.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a technical lead and mentor, guiding junior engineers and promoting engineering excellence.
- Lead design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate with functional teams, product owners, and external partners to deliver aligned solutions.
- Drive a culture of accountability, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in SAP development and integration engineering.
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP PI/PO experience (design, configuration, and support).
- Strong expertise in ABAP development and SAP extension frameworks (BAPIs, BADIs, ALE, RFCs, IDocs, Enhancements, User Exits).
- Proven experience leading enterprise integration initiatives and delivering end-to-end solutions.
- 5+ years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role (mentoring, leading design decisions, driving standards).
- Experience with production support environments, including incident management and root cause analysis.
Preferred / Differentiators
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA and integration considerations during transformation.
- Exposure to SAP BTP Integration Suite / CPI and hybrid integration landscapes.
- Knowledge of SAP NetWeaver Gateway, OData services, and API-based integrations.
- Familiarity with SAP HANA performance concepts (archiving, data volume management).
- Experience with integration monitoring and operational tools.
- Background in Agile or Scaled Agile delivery models.
