Job Description

About The Role

As a Retail Planning Manager, the individual will be responsible for driving merchandise planning, inventory strategy, allocation, replenishment, and OTB management across retail channels. S/he will work closely with buying, supply chain, finance, and retail teams to ensure optimal stock availability, maximize sales and profitability, and improve overall inventory productivity. Needs to be analytical, detail-oriented, commercially driven, and highly organized with strong stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities/What You Will Do

  • Drive seasonal and annual merchandise plans aligned with sales, margin, and growth targets.
  • Manage category planning, demand forecasting, inventory budgeting, and OTB control.
  • Develop allocation and replenishment strategies based on sales trends, store grading, and customer demand.
  • Monitor inventory productivity, stock turn, sell-through, GMROI, and markdown performance.
  • Ensure timely stock availability while minimizing stock-outs and excess inventory.
  • Review business performance and share actionable insights through weekly/monthly MIS reports.
  • Coordinate with buying, sourcing, supply chain, retail operations, and finance teams for smooth execution.
  • Drive stock balancing, inter-store transfers, and inventory optimization initiatives.
  • Improve planning processes, reporting accuracy, and ERP/planning tool utilization.
  • Lead corrective actions for underperforming categories and inventory gaps.

Qualifications & Skills/What You Need

  • 5–10 years of experience in merchandise planning, allocation, replenishment, or retail merchandising within fashion/lifestyle retail.
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Fashion Management, Retail Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of retail planning, inventory management, and OTB processes.
  • Excellent analytical, forecasting, and business planning skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving ability.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, MIS, and retail planning systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in team handling and cross-functional coordination preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and target-driven retail environment.
