About the Role
We are seeking a QA Technical Manager with deep expertise in automation testing and technical leadership. The ideal candidate will lead the QA automation strategy, guide a team of automation engineers, and ensure high-quality software delivery through innovative test automation practices. This role requires hands-on technical proficiency combined with strong people and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, reusable automation frameworks (Hybrid / POM / Data-Driven) using Selenium and Playwright.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to QA automation engineers across multiple projects.
- Drive adoption of modern tools like Playwright/Cypress for UI automation and Rest Assured/Postman for API automation.
- Establish and enforce best coding and testing practices, ensuring maintainability and scalability of automation frameworks.
- Own automation architecture decisions, frameworks, and continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Perform technical code reviews, optimize automation coverage, and ensure CI/CD integration using Jenkins or similar tools.
Quality Governance & Delivery
- Define, implement, and monitor QA metrics, standards, and KPIs for quality deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to ensure seamless quality integration throughout SDLC.
- Ensure test environment readiness, defect triaging, and root cause analysis of critical issues.
- Manage automation execution strategy, including test prioritization, reporting, and tracking through Jira/qTest.
- Align testing efforts with business priorities to deliver high-quality, stable releases on time.
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and coach a team of QA engineers, fostering continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define automation roadmaps, timelines, and resourcing plans.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and drive upskilling initiatives within the QA team.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 12+ years of experience in QA, with at least 5+ years in a leadership/managerial capacity.
- Hands-on expertise with Selenium, Playwright, and API Automation tools (Rest Assured, Postman, SOAPUI, etc.).
- Strong programming knowledge in Java and/or JavaScript.
- Deep understanding of TestNG, data-driven testing, parallel execution, and advanced reporting.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub) and version control systems.
- Strong SQL skills for backend validation.
- Proven ability to design scalable automation frameworks and drive process improvements.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-driven testing tools (e.g., TestSigma, Mabl).
- Exposure to cloud-based test execution environments.
- Prior experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Knowledge of performance or security testing is a plus.
