NRoot Labs is looking for BI Testing professionals who will work directly with the BI Development teams to validate Business Intelligence solutions. Build test strategy and test plans and test cases for ETL and Business Intelligence components. Validate SQL queries, Data models and Dashboards related to test cases and produce test summary reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Business Analysts, BI Developers and Functional Team members to translate Business requirements into Test Cases and eventually build Artefacts.
- Responsible for validating the data sources, extraction of data, applying transformation logic, and loading the data in the target tables.
- Designing, documenting and executing test plans, test harness, test scenarios/ scripts & test cases for manual, automated & bug tracking tools.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Good knowledge of writing and validating SQL queries using SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, or similar databases.
- Basic understanding of Data Warehousing concepts such as Fact & Dimension tables, ETL process, and Star Schema.
- Ability to understand Source-to-Target Mapping (STM) documents and validate data transformations.
- Experience in manual testing of BI dashboards and reports developed using Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, MicroStrategy, or similar reporting tools.
- Validate report data, KPIs, calculations, filters, drill-downs, and business logic against source data.
- Prepare test scenarios, test cases, execute test cases, log defects, and perform regression testing.
- Participate in requirement gathering sessions, client discussions, and functional walkthroughs to understand business requirements.
- Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to clarify requirements and ensure complete functional coverage.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by assisting business users and verifying reported issues.
- Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum, and software testing methodologies.
- Experience using Excel, Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar tools for test documentation and defect tracking.
- Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
GOOD TO HAVE:
- Basic understanding of Python to understand ETL logic (coding experience is not mandatory).
- Exposure to Power BI or other BI reporting tools.
- Exposure to Data Warehouse or Analytics projects.
- Knowledge of Automotive, ERP, or DMS systems is an added advantage
WORK EXPERIENCE: 1-3 Years
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION: B.Tech/M.Tech/MCA/ MS Degree
