Job Description

Job Role: PYP Teacher (International Baccalaureate)

Location: Ansal Sushant Golf City, Lucknow

The teacher will integrate the principles of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) with the child-centred philosophy of Montessori education to support the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of every learner.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons aligned with the IB PYP framework.
  • Incorporate Montessori principles and practices to encourage independence, self-directed learning, and hands-on exploration.
  • Design meaningful learning experiences that develop conceptual understanding, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Foster literacy, numeracy, and transdisciplinary learning through engaging classroom experiences.
  • Integrate technology appropriately to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes student agency and wellbeing.

Assessment and Reporting

  • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
  • Provide constructive and timely feedback to students and parents.
  • Prepare student reports and portfolios in accordance with school and IB guidelines.
  • Use assessment data to inform planning and improve student outcomes.

Classroom Environment

  • Develop a well-organized classroom that reflects both Montessori and IB learning philosophies.
  • Encourage respect, responsibility, empathy, and positive behaviour through restorative and proactive classroom management practices.
  • Ensure classroom resources are effectively maintained and utilized.

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with PYP coordinators, specialist teachers, learning support teams, and colleagues.
  • Participate actively in collaborative planning meetings and curriculum development.
  • Contribute to school events, exhibitions, assemblies, and co-curricular programmes.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents through regular communication, conferences, and workshops.

Professional Development

  • Participate in IB workshops, Montessori professional development programmes, and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Stay updated with current educational research and best practices in early and primary education.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and contribute to the school's culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant subject.
  • B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Montessori certification (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) is mandatory/preferred.
  • IB PYP training or prior experience in an IB World School is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience in Lower Primary or Elementary Years.
  • Sound knowledge of Montessori pedagogy and child development.
  • Ability to create engaging, student-centred learning experiences.
  • Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, and assessment abilities.
