Project Manager Bangalore Industrial Technologies and Services
Position Summary
This position will lead cross-functional teams comprised of engineering, product management, supply chain and operations to execute NPD and i2V/VAVE projects. Primary project goals will be to achieve direct material cost improvements, drive top line margin expansion and minimize the impact of escalating material and labor costs, while maintaining product integrity. The project manager will drive idea generation and provide focused project execution across North America sites for the Industrial Technologies and Services business unit. This position will also conduct and support engineering design efforts related to cost/feature benefit assessments then follow the design changes necessary to implement in the engineering system and the operational systems to ensure incorporation of cost improvements.
Responsibilities
- Utilize a gated project management process to plan and analyze assigned projects, establish schedules, actions and project parameters, and set procedures to accomplish objectives involving product initiatives.
- Lead a cross functional project team comprised of engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and product management, suppliers and other stakeholders.
- Assists in defining project scope and requirements, involving all relevant stakeholders to insure business and customer needs are met
- Deliver projects according to schedule and budget while ensuring product performance, cost, quality and reliability by utilizing Ingersoll Rand's Project Management process (IRPX)
- Analyzes historical project execution data to forecast time and resources needed to reach project objectives and manage resources in an effective an efficient manner
- Develops detailed project schedule and monitors and reports progress to cross-functional and management teams
- Responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the forecasted business case at completion, and controlling expenses by monitoring assigned project budget.
- Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation to measure project performance and identify process improvement opportunities to reduce cycle time, reduce waste, create automation and improve project performance metrics
- Utilizes and improves upon Ingersoll Rand and industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project life cycle and develops standard work to drive process consistency and excellence across the organization
- Maintain internal/external customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with project team and stakeholders.
- Assists in the planning of i2V (Innovate to Value) workshops with the purpose of generating value-enhancing ideas to improve product function, performance, reliability, and profit margin
- Build and encourage a culture of collaboration and productivity
Abilities & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 10-12 years of experience in Industrial equipment background, Compressor industry experience would be desirable .
- Certified project management professional (PMP) highly desired
- Experience in resource planning and team building with engineers, manufacturing, supply chain, product management
- Passionate self-starter, with demonstrated knowledge, experience and drive to inspire and coach others
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach to problem solving
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively through change and ambiguity
- Proficient in the use of MS office tools like Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Prefer strong expertise in using PM (MS Project or equivalent) and other tools as needed
Key Competencies
- Ability to integrate business, marketing and technical elements of a new product or product optimization project, including anticipating issues and driving countermeasures and issues to closure.
- Strong financial and business acumen and a history of running multiple projects on time and on budget.
- Knowledge of financial reporting and tracking tools including basic cost accounting and project viability assessments (ROI, NPV, etc).
- Ability to resolve conflict, to apply critical thinking to solve problems and to escalate when projects are at risk
- Individual should be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal, communication and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail.
- Tenacity in driving and influencing team members to meet or exceed objectives of Delivery, Quality, Project and Product Cost.
- Courage to promote change, to communicate risk to leadership and to present potential solutions.
- Proven success in targeting costing, value analysis / value engineering, competitive teardowns and benchmarking
- Knowledge of design and manufacturing principles.
