Job Summary:
The Plant Head will be responsible for the overall functioning of the stainless steel manufacturing facility, including Rolling Mill, and Maintenance operations. The role demands a hands-on leader with strong technical and managerial capabilities to drive productivity, ensure maintenance efficiency, manage costs, and uphold safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Operations Management
- Lead daily operations of Rolling Mill , support SMS and maintenance units.
- Monitor and ensure production targets, product quality, and delivery schedules are achieved.
- Implement best practices to maximize plant efficiency and minimize downtimes.
2. Maintenance Oversight
- Supervise preventive and breakdown maintenance of equipment and utilities.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure minimal disruption and optimize equipment uptime.
- Plan and manage CAPEX for new machinery or upgrades.
3. Manpower & Resource Planning
- Lead manpower planning across all departments ensuring optimal workforce utilization.
- Manage skill development, shift planning, and employee productivity.
- Promote a performance-driven culture through leadership and motivation.
4. Budgeting & Cost Control
- Prepare and monitor plant budgets, identify areas for cost reduction.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives in raw material usage, energy, and maintenance.
5. Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO, OSHA, Pollution Control Board).
- Implement robust safety protocols and conduct regular audits, training, and drills.
6. Process Improvement
- Introduce continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and TPM.
- Identify bottlenecks and lead process optimization initiatives.
7. Reporting & Coordination
- Submit regular reports on production, maintenance, manpower, and costs to top management.
- Liaise with purchase, sales, and logistics teams to align production with business demands.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- In-depth technical knowledge of steel melting, hot rolling processes.
- Experience in plant maintenance and utilities.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in manpower planning, cost optimization, and budget management.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems and production planning tools.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
Preferred Experience:
- 20+ years in stainless steel or related EAF Based alloy Steel mills.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership or plant-in-charge role.
