Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist – India Operations to manage high-volume payroll operations for both corporate employees and consultants deployed across client locations within a fast-paced staffing and workforce solutions environment.
The role will support payroll operations for 800+ headcount including consultants working under multiple client engagement models. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in India staffing payroll operations, statutory compliance, payroll controls, payroll reconciliation, and employee lifecycle transactions in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 800+ employees and consultants across India operations.
- Process monthly payroll inputs including onboarding, exits, attendance, timesheets, leave adjustments, incentives, reimbursements, overtime, and full & final settlements.
- Coordinate with delivery, HR, onboarding, finance, and business teams for payroll validations and approvals.
- Validate timesheets, attendance records, payout calculations, and client-specific payroll requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate salary disbursement within payroll timelines and SLAs.
- Manage payroll accounting support including payroll reconciliation, accruals, variance analysis, and payroll MIS reporting.
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, gratuity, labor laws, and other statutory requirements.
- Support payroll audits, statutory audits, and internal control/governance requirements.
- Handle employee payroll queries related to salary, taxation, deductions, reimbursements, and F&F settlements.
- Work closely with HRMS teams for payroll closure activities and issue resolution.
- Maintain payroll documentation, SOPs, approvals, audit trails, and compliance records.
- Support payroll continuity planning and backup operations for critical payroll cycles.
- Identify opportunities for process automation, operational efficiency, and reduction in manual interventions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, Finance, Accounting, HR, or related discipline.
- 4–6 years of payroll experience in staffing, workforce solutions, GCC, or high-volume operational environments.
- Hands-on experience processing payroll for large employee populations (500+ HC preferred).
- Strong understanding of staffing payroll operations including consultant payroll, attendance/timesheet-based payroll, and client deployment structures.
- Strong knowledge of India payroll regulations, taxation, labor laws, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll/HRMS systems such as GreytHR, ADP or similar platforms.
- Strong MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, reconciliation, and payroll reporting.
