Oracle Database Administrator
1015 years of experience in Oracle Database Administration.
Location- Kolkata
Responsibilities
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases across various versions (including Oracle 12c/19c/21c).
- The candidate should have experience working in high-availability environments and demonstrate strong skills in automation, security, and compliance.
- Perform periodic maintenance / patching as required.
- Monitor database performance and perform proactive tuning.
- Manage backup and recovery using RMAN and Oracle Recovery Manager strategies.
- Define and implement best practices and automation initiatives.
- Lead database migration projects (on-prem to cloud / version upgrades).
Required Skills
- Proficient in RMAN backup and recovery strategies.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and management.
- Experience with patching, upgrades, and database cloning.
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux system administration related to Oracle.
- Proficiency in writing complex PL/SQL scripts and shell scripting for automation.
- Experience in handling large-scale database environments (multi-TB).
- Good communication skills with both technical and management teams.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Databases.
- Experience with GoldenGate or other replication tools.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL and Mongo DB administration.
- Experience in database security auditing and compliance.
- Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, or other IaC tools for database deployment automation.
- Exposure to containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) in relation to databases.
- Oracle certifications (e.g., OCP, OCM) are a strong plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management procedures.
