OCI Network Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced OCI Network Specialist with

7 to 11 years of expertise in designing, implementing, and managing complex

network infrastructures on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The ideal

candidate will have deep hands-on experience with OCI networking services,

hybrid cloud connectivity, and enterprise-grade network security practices.

The OCI Network Specialist will be responsible for architecting robust and

scalable network solutions on OCI, ensuring high availability, security,

and performance across cloud and on-premises environments. This role requires

close collaboration with cloud architects, security teams, DevOps engineers,

and infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end networking solutions aligned

with organizational and client objectives.

2. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Architecture & Design:

- Architect, design, and implement scalable and highly available network

topologies on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

- Design Virtual Cloud Networks (VCN), subnets, gateways, route tables, security

lists, and Network Security Groups (NSGs) as per best practices.

- Plan and implement Hub-and-Spoke and other advanced network architectures

for multi-region and multi-tenancy OCI environments.

- Design and manage OCI Load Balancers (Public and Private) including

Layer 4 and Layer 7 configurations.

- Architect solutions for OCI Network Firewall, WAF, and DDoS protection.

Hybrid Connectivity:

- Design and implement hybrid connectivity solutions using OCI FastConnect

and Site-to-Site VPN (IPSec).

- Manage BGP routing configurations for FastConnect and peering setups.

- Configure and maintain OCI Dynamic Routing Gateways (DRG) for inter-VCN

and on-premises connectivity.

- Troubleshoot and optimize WAN, MPLS, and SD-WAN integrations with OCI.

Network Security & Governance:

- Implement and manage network security policies using Security Lists, NSGs,

OCI Network Firewall, and WAF.

- Conduct network security assessments and ensure compliance with industry

standards (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001).

- Monitor network traffic and analyze flow logs using OCI VCN Flow Logs and

third-party SIEM tools.

- Implement Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles on OCI.

Performance & Optimization:

- Monitor network performance metrics and resolve bottlenecks proactively.

- Optimize OCI network configurations for latency, throughput, and cost.

- Conduct capacity planning for network bandwidth and connectivity.

- Leverage OCI Network Path Analyzer and Network Visualizer for diagnostics.

Operations & Support:

- Provide Level 3 support for network incidents and escalations.

- Develop and maintain network runbooks, SOPs, and architecture documentation.

- Participate in change management and release planning for network changes.

- Coordinate with Oracle support for network-related service requests and

critical issue resolution.

- Perform regular network audits and vulnerability assessments.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

- Work closely with cloud architects, security engineers, and application teams

to ensure network requirements are met.

- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.

- Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements and present

network design proposals.

- Participate in pre-sales activities and proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Networking:

- Strong expertise in OCI VCN, Subnets, Route Tables, Internet Gateway,

NAT Gateway, Service Gateway, Local Peering Gateway (LPG), Remote

Peering Connection (RPC).

- Hands-on experience with OCI Dynamic Routing Gateway (DRG v2).

- Proficiency in OCI FastConnect, IPSec VPN, and BGP routing.

- Experience with OCI Load Balancer, Network Load Balancer, and

Application Load Balancer.

- Expertise in OCI Network Firewall and Web Application Firewall (WAF).

- Knowledge of OCI DNS (Private and Public), Traffic Management,

and Email Delivery services.

- Experience with OCI Network Path Analyzer, Network Visualizer,

and VCN Flow Logs.

Networking Fundamentals:

- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF,

EIGRP, RIP), switching, and VLAN configurations.

- Strong knowledge of network security concepts including firewalls, IDS/IPS,

VPN, NAT, ACLs, and Zero Trust.

- Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, and CIDR.

- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, Nagios,

Zabbix, or equivalent).

Cloud & Hybrid Networking:

- Experience in hybrid cloud network design and implementation.

- Knowledge of SD-WAN, MPLS, and WAN optimization technologies.

- Familiarity with multi-cloud networking (AWS, Azure, OCI interconnects).

Automation & Infrastructure as Code:

- Hands-on experience with Terraform for OCI network provisioning.

- Familiarity with OCI CLI and OCI SDKs for network automation.

- Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for network tasks.

- Understanding of microservices architecture and API Gateway networking.

- Experience with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) network configurations.
