The Head MEP Design will be responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing all aspects of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire-Fighting) design and coordination across the company's real estate projects. The role involves ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable design solutions that align with architectural intent, statutory requirements, and project timelines.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end MEP design process, from concept to final delivery, ensuring alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and cost targets.
- Coordinate seamlessly with architectural, structural, and project management teams to ensure proper integration of MEP systems within the overall design framework.
- Review and approve design drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and tender documents prepared by internal teams or external consultants.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the MEP design team, fostering innovation, efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with local and international codes and standards (e.g., NBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IS Codes).
- Conduct site visits and design validation inspections to ensure that MEP installations are executed in accordance with approved designs.
- Liaise with external consultants, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and optimize design efficiency.
- Oversee value engineering exercises to optimize cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability without compromising functionality.
- Collaborate with the procurement and project execution teams to evaluate MEP equipment and materials, ensuring technical suitability and commercial viability.
- Lead the implementation of BIM and digital design tools for enhanced design accuracy, coordination, and documentation.
- Prepare periodic reports and presentations for management on design progress, design risks, and key technical decisions.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: 1217 years of experience in MEP design and coordination within the real estate or construction industry, preferably with exposure to large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments.
- Strong expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting systems design and integration.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and other design software.
- Excellent understanding of building services design principles, sustainability standards, and green building concepts.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage consultants, and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
