Manufacturing Cost Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate product quotations based on customer drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
• Analyze manufacturing processes, material requirements, labor hours, and production costs to develop competitive quotations.
• Review new product designs and collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams to determine manufacturing feasibility.
• Create and maintain product Bills of Materials (BOM), ensuring material accuracy and cost optimization.
• Source and obtain quotations from suppliers for raw materials, standard components, and outsourced processes.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely completion of quotation activities.
• Prepare cost breakdowns, profitability analyses, and quotation summaries for management approval.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by evaluating manufacturing costs and process requirements.
• Maintain quotation records, cost databases, and standard costing information.
• Assist in process improvement initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs and improve quotation efficiency.
• Support engineering change requests (ECO/ECN) by updating quotation and cost information.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or Management.

Requirements

• Diploma or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in quotation engineering, cost estimation, manufacturing engineering, or NPI.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, precision assembly, and semiconductor manufacturing processes is an advantage.
• Good understanding of manufacturing cost analysis and supplier sourcing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple quotations within tight deadlines.
