Job Description

Job Summary:
The Manual Tester is responsible for evaluating software applications and systems to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. This role involves creating and executing test cases, identifying defects, and communicating with the development team to resolve issues. The Manual Tester plays a key role in ensuring the overall quality, reliability, and performance of software products.

Responsibilities:

Test Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and develop test plans and strategies.

Test Case Design: Create detailed, comprehensive test cases and test scripts based on software requirements and design specifications.

Test Execution: Execute test cases manually to verify software functionality, usability, performance, and compatibility across different platforms and environments.

Defect Identification: Identify, isolate, and document defects and issues encountered during testing, including providing clear steps to reproduce.

Defect Management: Track and manage defects using bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla) throughout the defect lifecycle, from discovery to resolution.

Regression Testing: Conduct regression testing to ensure that previously identified defects have been resolved and that new changes do not introduce additional issues.

Ad Hoc Testing: Perform exploratory testing and ad hoc testing to uncover potential defects or usability issues that may not be covered by formal test cases.

Test Reporting: Prepare and communicate test reports, including test results, metrics, and recommendations for improvements, to stakeholders and project teams.

Collaboration: Work closely with developers, business analysts, and other team members to understand requirements, clarify issues, and ensure smooth communication throughout the testing process.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices, testing methodologies, and tools to improve testing processes and efficiency.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Manual Tester or QA Tester in software development projects.
Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and techniques.
Familiarity with test management tools and bug tracking systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly document test cases and report findings.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Experience with automated testing tools and techniques (optional, but a plus).
