ROLE OVERVIEW:
The SAP Functional Manager will provide functional leadership across a complex SAP landscape including SAP SD, MM, MDG, CRM, Vistex and integrated non‑SAP systems. This role is critical to driving end‑to‑end SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, owning solution governance, integrations, testing, cutover and go‑live readiness.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Planning
- Provide end‑to‑end functional leadership across SAP modules including SD, MM, FI, MDG, CRM, Vistex, MuleSoft, and adjacent SAP/non‑SAP systems
- Act as the single functional design authority, ensuring solution consistency across modules and alignment with enterprise architecture standards
- Lead fit‑to‑standard and fit‑gap analysis activities across workstreams
- Ensure clean‑core principles where applicable and govern custom developments
Delivery and Execution
- Lead and support end‑to‑end SAP S/4HANA migrations (minimum 2–3 full lifecycle implementations)
- Drive functional activities across Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Hypercare phases
- Own and coordinate integration‑heavy migration scenarios involving SAP and external systems
- Provide functional leadership during system conversions, including brownfield, greenfield, and hybrid migrations, and ECC decommissioning
- Oversee cross‑module and cross‑system integrations, including:
- SD/MM/FI integration
- CRM and customer lifecycle processes
- MDG governance and data synchronization
- Vistex pricing, rebates, and settlement integration
- Ensure functional completeness of interfaces, data flows, and reconciliation controls
Support and Enablement
- Define and govern end‑to‑end functional test strategy, including SIT, UAT, regression testing, and mock cutovers
- Lead cutover planning and execution from a functional perspective, including:
- Dependency identification
- Data migration validation
- Business readiness and functional sign‑off
- Support production stabilization and hypercare governance
- Collaborate closely with integration, middleware, data, and technical teams to resolve functional dependencies
People Leadership
- Act as the primary functional interface to business leaders, product owners, and program leadership
- Provide regular functional status, risk, and dependency reporting to PMO and leadership forums
- Mentor and lead functional leads, senior consultants, and offshore/onshore teams
- Drive knowledge standards, documentation quality, and creation of reusable functional assets
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Information Systems or related discipline
- SAP Certifications preferred
Required Experience
- 9-12 years SAP functional experience with 3-4 yrs exp in Project Management roles
- Strong exposure to SAP Activate methodology
- Experience working in Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery models
- Understanding of program governance, design authority, and quality gates
Essential skills
- Strong cross-functional knowledge of OTC, PTP, FI, VISTEX, Knowledge of MDG, CRM and integrations through Mulesoft
- Deep understanding of S/4HANA data model, simplification items, and business partner concepts
- Expertise in functional impact analysis for integrations and data migrations
- Experience with testing tools, defect management, and cutover orchestration
- Familiarity with JIRA, Solution Manager, ALM tools, and enterprise delivery frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to lead multi‑module, cross‑vendor teams
- Strong decision‑making, problem‑solving, and risk management capabilities
- Ability to operate confidently at program leadership and executive review levels
Desired skills
- Experience in Project Management for large SAP programs, preferably SAP S/4HANA
- Proven Leadership of cross functional teams
