Reservation is the beating heart of many Amadeus products. It handles critical steps on trip reservation including booking, ticketing, management of traveler records. Our organization, part of the Travel Search and Reservation unit (TSI-TSR), drives these reservation functions for most Travel Content, such as air, land, sea. We are accountable for our unique reservation platform, used by both by Airlines and Distribution actors. With the travel industry rapidly changing, the organization is involved in key on-going and new projects at the crossroad of all the business units (e.g. integration of the next generation of distribution interfaces to acquire airline content, enhancing the platform to optimize merchandizing techniques for our customers, etc.).

We also recognize technical challenges of our platform's modernization bringing our application in the cloud and the development of cloud-native micro-services has already started.

The candidate will be the manager for the team responsible to build cloud native reliable microservices for connecting to various content providers, booking air content, ticket issuance, after sales flows, and synchronization of travel records with other systems. These services - the core of Amadeus business - are provided for the new generation ones (NDC, Nevio). They are designed to serve multiple customer segments in the Travel Unit providers (e.g., airlines) and sellers (e.g., travel agencies). We are looking for a high potential individual with experience in Java, building cloud native services/applications, Leading and Managing team towards the future of the technical platform.

Common accountabilities:

. Manages a team of Staff employees and has accountability for their performance and results. Sets performance objectives, conducts performance reviews and recommends pay actions.

. Defines a vision for the team in line with the department strategy and operational challenges and translates it into a concrete action plan. Works with a high level of autonomy, with some guidance from Senior Manager.

. Acts as a reference across multiple areas, anticipating solutions to complex problems.

. Optimizes efficiency based on knowledge and experience with policies, procedures and business plan.

Specific accountabilities:

. Accountability / Business acumen

o Define and share the technical/functional team roadmap and vision according to the department/division/company objectives

o Report on team activities

o Be accountable for the performance and results of a unit within own discipline or function

o Develop plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges

o Suggest alternatives / improvements / new techniques in processes, flows, operational models and plans

o Moderate budgetary impact on business

o Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan receive guidance from senior manager

. Technical excellence

o Keeps up to date with technical/functional knowledge and developments and uses it to propose improvements

o Provides expert technical/functional guidance to others

o Timely manage the investigation and resolution of production support issues and customer inquiries

o Collaborate with other software development, architecture, solutions, and QA teams to ensure that software systems are designed for testability, stability, scalability, and performance.

o Ensure timely and appropriate communication to team members regarding company/organization information

o Able to generate ideas and create an environment within the team for new idea creations

Technical Knowledge (Mandatory):

. In-depth knowledge of Java, microservices, APIs, Swagger Spec/OpenAPI, Kafka/NATS, Dockers and Kubernetes

. Has working experience on Azure

. Strong understanding of design principles and patterns

. Good Knowledge of any of the framework: Quarkus, Spring boot, any micro framework for building microservices

Preferrable qualifications:

. Experience with XML is a plus, not mandatory

. Experience with functional programming and reactive programming principles

. Experience with Azure Functions

. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools

. Experience with performance optimization techniques and profiling tools

. Experience with LLMs (GenAI) for developing complex applications (not just chat bots backed by RAG) is a plus
