Job Title: Manager - Estimation & Quantity (E&Q)
Department: Estimation, Quantity & Costing
Business Vertical: Della Luxury Products / High-End Furniture Manufacturing
Location: Daman Factory
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The Manager - Estimation & Quantity (E&Q) will oversee quantity surveying, cost estimation, bill of quantities (BOQ) preparation, and material variance analysis across all manufacturing lines for high-end bespoke and luxury furniture. This role demands precision in assessing raw material requirements (solid wood, veneers, metals, marble, upholstery, hardware, lacquers, etc.), optimizing resource consumption, and maintaining strict alignment between design prototypes and actual factory floor production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quantity Surveying & Cost Estimation
. Review CAD/3D technical drawings, prototype specifications, and design briefs from the Design team to extract exact measurements and specifications.
. Develop comprehensive and highly accurate Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Bill of Materials (BOM) for high-end custom and modular furniture ranges.
. Calculate precise yield and wastage allowances for premium materials (wood, veneer, fabric, leather, hardware, specialty metals, and surface treatments).
. Conduct rigorous cost estimation for standard production batches, bespoke orders, and mock-up prototypes.
2. BOM Management & Variance Control
. Collaborate with the Design and R&D teams during prototype stages to establish baseline BOMs.
. Perform regular Actual vs. BOM Consumption Analysis on the factory floor to identify discrepancies and minimize wastage.
. Implement standard operating practices to ensure raw materials are issued and consumed strictly per approved estimates.
3. Vendor, Purchase & Cost Optimization
. Partner with the Purchase/Procurement team to obtain accurate material pricing and evaluate vendor quotations.
. Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising luxury finish standards or structural integrity.
. Coordinate with stores and feeder departments to align raw material stock with production scheduling.
4. Commercial & Subcontractor Evaluation
. Estimate labor hours, machinery cycle times, and operational costs per unit in coordination with production leads.
. Review and verify contractor/subcontractor bills, labor payouts, and job-work claims against work completed.
. Prepare cost variance reports, budget forecasts, and yield improvement metrics for senior management.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
. Estimation Accuracy: Discrepancy between estimated BOM cost and actual production cost within ±2-3%.
. Wastage Reduction: Minimization of high-value raw material waste (wood, veneer, leather).
. BOM Turnaround Time: On-time creation of BOMs for new prototype releases and custom client orders.
. Cost Savings: Identified through value engineering and vendor price reconciliation.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Education & Experience
. Degree/Diploma: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Wood Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Interior Architecture.
. Experience: 5-8 Years of hands-on experience in Estimation & Quantity (E&Q) within high-end/luxury furniture manufacturing, premium joinery, or luxury interior execution.
Technical Skills
. Proficient in reading and interpreting complex shop drawings, technical CAD drafts, and exploded assembly views.
. Expertise in high-end furniture raw materials: timber species, engineered wood, veneers, laminates, luxury fabrics, metal alloys, brass inlays, glass, stone, and specialized coatings.
. Strong proficiency in ERP software (SAP, Oracle, or custom MRP systems), MS Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), and estimation tools.
Behavioral Competencies
. Meticulous attention to detail and sharp analytical abilities.
. Strong cross-functional negotiation and communication skills.
. High commercial acumen with a problem-solving mindset.
