We're looking for a Magento 2 Developer who doesn't just code but ships faster and smarter by leveraging AI tools for scaffolding, refactoring, testing, and documentation. You'll build high-quality Adobe Commerce stores/modules for multiple clients in an IT services environment, with a strong focus on performance, security, and maintainability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain custom Magento 2 modules, themes (Hyv/Luma), and integrations (REST/GraphQL, webhooks).
- Use AI copilots (e.g., GitHub Copilot/ChatGPT/CodeWhisperer/Tabnine/Cursor) to:
- generate boilerplate/module scaffolds and PHPUnit/MFTF tests,
- propose refactors and performance optimizations (indexes, caching, query tuning),
- create developer/client-facing documentation and release notes,
- draft migration plans and code review checklists.
- Implement headless builds (PWA Studio or headless storefronts) where applicable.
- Optimize performance: FPC/Varnish, Redis, OpCache, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, CDN, image optimization, async queues (RabbitMQ).
- Own quality: unit/integration/e2e tests (PHPUnit, MFTF), static analysis (PHPStan, Psalm), code sniffers (PHPCS).
- Secure coding: input validation, CSRF/XSS protection, ACLs, secrets management, secure payments (PCI-aware).
- CI/CD & DevOps: Composer workflows, GitFlow, GitHub/GitLab Actions, Docker; collaborate with DevOps for env parity and cloud/on-prem deployments.
- Client collaboration: estimate, demo, and communicate trade-offs; document via ADRs, READMEs, AI-generated runbooks.
Must Have Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of PHP (7.4/8.x) and Magento 2 (Commerce/Open Source) development in an agency/IT services setup.
- Strong Magento 2 fundamentals: DI, plugins/observers, EAV, UI Components, Checkout, Catalog, Cart/Quote/Order flows.
- Theming: Hyv/Luma, LESS/SASS, Knockout/AlpineJS; familiarity with headless/PWA.
- Integrations: REST/GraphQL APIs, third-party ERP/CRM/Payment/Shipping.
- DB & caching: MySQL query tuning, indexes, Redis, Varnish; message queues (RabbitMQ).
- Tooling: Composer, NPM/Yarn, Webpack/Vite, Git; CI/CD exposure.
- Proven use of AI tools in delivery (please share examples: PRs, before/after diffs, prompts, or test artifacts).
- Clear, proactive communication with cross-functional teams and clients.
