Lead Software Engineer – SWIFT Payments Testing

Location: Mumbai (Ghatkopar)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer – SWIFT Payments Testing with strong expertise in international payments and SWIFT messaging. The ideal candidate will lead testing activities, collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor QA engineers, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end manual and functional testing of international payment applications.
  • Validate SWIFT MT and ISO 20022 MX messages and end-to-end payment workflows, including cross-border payments, remittances, settlements, and reconciliation.
  • Review business requirements and prepare test strategies, test scenarios, and test cases.
  • Execute and lead SIT, UAT, Regression, Integration, and Production Validation testing.
  • Ensure requirement traceability, test coverage, and compliance with SWIFT and ISO 20022 standards.
  • Manage defects using JIRA, HP ALM/QC, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and Operations teams to resolve issues and support successful releases.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and drive continuous improvements in testing processes and quality standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7–15 years of software testing experience in Banking or Financial Services.
  • Strong expertise in SWIFT Payments, MT/MX message formats, and international payment processing.
  • Good understanding of cross-border payments, correspondent banking, settlement lifecycle, reconciliation, payment investigations, and compliance validation.
  • Strong knowledge of STLC, SDLC, defect management, and test management tools such as JIRA, HP ALM/QC, or Azure DevOps.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading QA teams or coordinating testing activities across multiple releases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SWIFT gateways, payment hubs, or core banking platforms.
  • Exposure to ISO 20022 migration programs and global payment systems such as SEPA, RTGS, CHAPS, or ACH.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Banking or Payments domain certifications are an added advantage.
