Jivejar LLC is a U.S.-based parent company with a dedicated Product Division building technology products for the U.S. market.
We are building an AI-first, offline-capable restaurant point-of-sale and operations platform for independent and small multi-location restaurants.
The platform will combine:
- Point-of-sale terminals
- Kitchen display systems
- Customer-facing displays
- Payments and refunds
- QR and online ordering
- Merchant back office
- Device and store management
- Offline transaction processing
- AI-assisted restaurant operations
The system must continue handling essential restaurant operations during internet interruptions and safely synchronize when connectivity returns.
About the role
We are hiring a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to own the technical foundation of the platform.
You will design and build the distributed transaction layer, backend services, cloud infrastructure, PostgreSQL architecture, payment integrations, merchant web applications, and engineering quality controls.
This is not a presentation-only architect or people-management role. You will write production code, make architecture decisions, investigate failures, review critical implementations, and remain accountable for delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design distributed, event-driven, and offline-first transaction workflows.
- Build TypeScript and Node.js backend services and REST APIs.
- Design a secure, multi-tenant PostgreSQL architecture.
- Implement append-only event and transaction processing.
- Build idempotency, retry, deduplication, replay, and recovery controls.
- Handle concurrency, duplicated requests, delayed messages, and out-of-order webhooks.
- Integrate payment processing, merchant onboarding, refunds, tips, and reconciliation.
- Ensure retried requests cannot create duplicate financial transactions.
- Build merchant back-office and QR-ordering applications.
- Design transaction, tax, pricing, discount, and refund business rules.
- Implement observability using tools such as Sentry and CloudWatch.
- Build property-based, simulation, and failure-injection tests.
- Define CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and recovery standards.
- Guide Android integration contracts for POS devices and hardware.
- Review and verify AI-assisted production code.
- Work directly with the Product Owner and Principal Engineer.
Required qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 3+ years of production TypeScript or Node.js experience.
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational data-modeling experience.
- Production experience building distributed, event-driven, offline-first, or highly available systems.
- Strong understanding of idempotency, retries, deduplication, concurrency, and data consistency.
- Experience designing production REST APIs and webhook integrations.
- End-to-end payment-provider integration experience.
- Experience with payment creation, refunds, webhook processing, and reconciliation.
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS applications.
- Experience testing complex transactional or financial logic.
- Ability to take ambiguous product requirements through architecture, coding, testing, and production delivery.
- Willingness to work full-time from Hyderabad.
Preferred qualifications
- Restaurant POS, retail, commerce, fintech, logistics, or ERP experience.
- AWS production experience.
- Experience with event sourcing or append-only event logs.
- Experience with property-based, simulation, chaos, or failure-injection testing.
- Experience with Next.js, Fastify, tRPC, or equivalent TypeScript frameworks.
- Working familiarity with Kotlin and Android integration boundaries.
- Payment-terminal or semi-integrated payment experience.
- Experience taking an early-stage product through a live customer pilot.
