The Investment Risk team is part of Global Risk and is responsible for the framework and governance of all aspects of Investment Risk including fund market risk, fund liquidity risk, fund counterparty risk and fund sustainability risk. The team also provides oversight of the Operational Risk within the Investment Team and EUC (End-User Computing) Risk across the organisation.The India business and operations team works upon providing data analytics solutions to enable data driven Risk oversight & controls on Investment data sourced from multiple sources.
About your role
- The primary function of the role is to develop and support enterprise grade reporting solutions, and business analytics using Python, SQL/TSQL connecting to complex and high-volume data sources. The role will be working as part of an expanding data analytics team for Investment Risk Oversight within Global Risk Function, partnering with businesses and key stakeholders across FIL (Fidelity International) locations to deliver the desired business outcomes.
- This role sits within the Investment Risk Oversight team and the individual will be expected to align their work closely with other members of the Investment Risk team and colleagues in Investments, Operational and Technology.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Python Developer, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end development of Python code which will function as a business layer (Adapters) for our various reporting solutions pertaining to subject areas in Investment Risk ie, Liquidity Risk, Market Risk etc The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, database management, and keen interest in modern data analytics and data science practices, with a particular focus on Oracle 12C and SQL Server as data storage. This role involves developing and optimizing our data analytics and data science aspirations, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
This role will entail:
- Working with global stakeholders to capture business requirements and convert to technical task items.
- Lead the design, development, and integration of Python-based applications and data pipelines, ensuring seamless operation within our infrastructure.
- Manage, optimize, and troubleshoot databases, particularly SQL Server and Oracle 12+, ensuring data integrity, high availability, and performance.
- Develop and implement automated processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) to streamline data workflows.
- Work closely with data analysts, business analysts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver robust data solutions that meet business needs.
- Mentor and guide fellow developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Perform required data analysis using SQL and Excel for complex datasets to understand data grain as per requirements.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in coding standards, data management, security, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Skills
- 6-8 years of experience in Python development and database management, with a strong history of delivering complex data-driven solutions.
- Hands-on in Python programming, database development, and keen interest in data science, with a particular focus on Oracle 12C and SQL Server.
- we'll-versed in writing complex SQL (Structured Query Language) statements with multiple joins and optimising skills.
- Experience with Oracle 12C and SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proven ability to design, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and database structures.
- Knowledge of Investment Management domain, Financial Capital markets, Types of Assets, Trading life cycle, Funds management etc
- Data Analytics knowledge - Ability to understand, analyse complex datasets.
- High degree of proficiency in MS Excel (strong knowledge of power pivot, data sorting, filters, etc). Ability to develop complex models and data structures, including macros, will be of advantage.
- Managing data from multiple sources in excel, CSV or MS Access like tactical data management solutions
- Good understanding of Data Quality and Data management frameworks
- Ability to work with stakeholders at multiple levels and high degree of comfort in working with ambiguity and under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

Desirable Skills
- Certifications in Python, databases, or data science, such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional), PCAP (Python Certified Associate Programmer), or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in relation to data storage and processing.
- Experience of the asset management industry would be an advantage.
- Experience based domain knowledge of Risk management, regulatory compliance or operational compliance functions would be an advantage.
