The Lead Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for supporting the development team with the development of CAD Drawings, processing of Change Orders, and design work within the Quality standards of Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.

This position reports to the Sr. Hardware Engineering Manager (U.S. office) and is part of the Automation R&D Group located at the Beckman India Development Center (IDC) in Bangalore, India and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support all engineering activities related to product development during project phases in accordance with design controls

  • Support R&D team to create mechanical and electrical drawings in accordance with Company standards, applying GD&T to Mechanical drawings based on the functionality and performing tolerance analysis

  • Perform Engineering Change Management for new products at various development phases, which requires a high attention to detail and superior documentation skills

  • Work and collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure smooth transition of Design Outputs from R&D to Manufacturing and Service

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BS/MS (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering with 8 years minimum relative work experience

  • Intermediate (or higher) skill level in Solidworks 3D modeling and Drawings creation with a strong understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis

  • Design of parts and assemblies with appropriate analysis to ensure they meet requirements

  • Prior experience in Engineering Change Order/Management using a PLM tool (Arena Preferred), taking parts from prototype to full release and sustaining changes

  • Iterative design refinement based on feedback.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
