Job Description

Utthunga is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead EPC Mechanical (Static) Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage all mechanical engineering activities specifically related to static equipment within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the technical integrity, stringent compliance with industry codes and standards, and the timely delivery of all mechanical engineering deliverables for static equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all mechanical engineering aspects pertaining to static equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, columns, reactors, filters, etc.) across various EPC projects.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of all static equipment designs, specifications, and installations.
  • Guarantee compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, TEMA, IS, etc.) and project-specific requirements.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of all mechanical engineering deliverables for static equipment, including design basis, specifications, data sheets, MTOs, technical bid evaluations, and vendor document reviews.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams for vendor selection and technical clarifications related to static equipment.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior mechanical engineers within the static equipment discipline.
  • Participate in inter-disciplinary coordination meetings to ensure seamless integration of static equipment with other project components (piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation).
  • Conduct or oversee technical reviews of vendor proposals and drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications and standards.
  • Support site activities during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases as required.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with static equipment design and implementation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in mechanical engineering for EPC projects, with a significant focus on static equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing engineering teams or specific discipline activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to static equipment design and fabrication (e.g., ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API standards, TEMA).
  • Proficiency in static equipment design software and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
