Job Description

The Land Acquisition Manager (Transmission Line Projects) is responsible for the end-to-end management of land and Right of Way (RoW) acquisition required for the construction of transmission lines, substations, and associated facilities. The role ensures that all land-related activities - including identification, negotiation, documentation, and statutory clearances - are executed efficiently, legally, and within the project timelines.

The incumbent acts as the nodal point of coordination between the project execution team, local authorities, landowners, and community stakeholders to secure uninterrupted access along the transmission corridor. This involves route alignment verification, facilitation of RoW permissions, handling compensation and consent processes, and resolving any disputes or grievances arising from land ownership or access issues.

The Land Acquisition Manager must have a deep understanding of land laws, local governance structures, and state-specific RoW policies, as well as relevant provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003, Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, and State Transmission Utility (STU) guidelines. The role also demands strong liaison capabilities with district administration, revenue departments, and forest/environment authorities, ensuring that all land transactions and clearances adhere to legal and ethical standards.

A key part of the role involves maintaining detailed land records and documentation, including ownership maps, consent letters, compensation registers, and RoW clearance certificates, ensuring transparency and audit compliance. The Land Acquisition Manager also supports the project team by identifying potential route constraints early and proposing alternate alignments to avoid delays.

Through effective stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and proactive coordination, the Land Acquisition Manager plays a critical role in enabling smooth project execution, ensuring timely availability of land and RoW across the entire transmission line alignment while maintaining community goodwill and safeguarding the project's commercial and reputational interests.
