Kumar & CO Chartered Accountants (general practice operating on behalf of a cross section of business sectors) in the UK.
Kumar & CO Chartered Accountants is looking for a dynamic and bright Accountant with 5 years plus practice experience to immediately join their team. The accountant will work directly with the senior exec team / partners and stakeholders (global OS teams).
This is a manager position with greater responsibilities and control.
Job Role & Responsibilities
Client & Portfolio Management
- Manage a portfolio of UK clients and serve as their primary point of contact for clients and internal team
- Build trusted relationships by communicating proactively via email and video calls (approx. 30% to 40%).
- Confidently handle conversations across small, medium, and large engagements.
Detailed Review & Technical Delivery
- Conduct comprehensive line-by-line reviews of bookkeeping, management accounts, year-end accounts, and tax returns (corporate and personal) prepared by three offshore team members. Organizational skills / workflow management and ability to prioritise urgent and important matters is essential.
- Validate numbers against supporting documents, identify corrections, and add value through insights and recommendations.
- Review statutory accounts under FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, and FRS 105, including iXBRL tagging.
- Review annual accounts for companies, LLPs, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Oversee end-to-end production of accounts from micro up to 10M.
- Review monthly management accounts and ensure quality prior to partner oversight.
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Review corporation tax, income tax, capital gains, inheritance tax computations, and returns.
- Manage a portfolio of VAT clients, including delegation, review, and submission of monthly/quarterly returns.
- Liaise with HMRC on VAT queries, investigations, and occasional MLR or treaty-related matters.
- Provide basic but reliable tax planning guidance to owner-managed businesses.
Workflow Leadership & Team Management
- Oversee workflow across three offshore teams, ensuring timely, accurate delivery.
- Assign tasks, clarify expectations, and mentor team members across levels.
- Identify skill gaps, provide light training, and deliver clear, constructive feedback.
- Work closely with the Director/Partner to manage deadlines, team KPIs, and operational discipline.
Quality, Efficiency & Process Improvement
- Strengthen review processes, checklists, and review templates to ensure consistent quality.
- Recommend and implement improvements in accounting, tax, and reporting workflows.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and better client outcomes.
Qualifications & Expertise
Education & Professional Credentials
- Fully qualified CA / ACCA / ACA is ideal
- Minimum 5+ years of post-qualification UK practice experience.
Technical Expertise
- Strong command of UK GAAP FRS 102, FRS 102 1A, FRS 105.
- Proficient in statutory account preparation and review, including iXBRL.
- Solid grounding in management accounting, double-entry, and reconciliations.
- Strong experience in UK corporation tax, personal tax, and VAT review.
- Experience with charity independent examinations and service charge accounts is an advantage.
Tools & Software
- Expert-level Xero experience (minimum 3 years; certification required).
- Proficiency in TaxCalc, Excel (advanced), Word, PowerPoint, and Office 365.
- Use of AI (copilot) into everyday task to drive efficiency and create greater capacity for value added / advisory focussed tasks.

- High attention to detail, ownership, and a coaching mindset.

Working Model
- Work Location: Hyderabad / Ahmedabad / Coimbatore.
- Work Arrangement:
- First 36 months: Work from office
- Work closely with offshore accounting teams and report to the UK Senior Exec & Leadership Team / Partner/Director.
