Job Title: Houseparent Boys Residence

Position Type: Full-time, Residential
Job Purpose:
To create a safe, nurturing, and structured living environment for boys residing in the school's boarding facility. The Houseparent serves as a mentor, caregiver, and role model, ensuring students well-being, emotional development, and academic support in alignment with the school's values and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:Student Welfare & Supervision
- Provide daily pastoral care, emotional support, and supervision to boys in the boarding house.
- Ensure a safe and disciplined environment through consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and respectful relationships.
- Monitor health, hygiene, and general well-being; liaise with the school nurse, counsellors, and leadership as needed.
- Encourage a balanced lifestyle including academics, recreation, and rest.
Pastoral & Behavioural Guidance
- Act as a trusted adult and mentor to students, helping them navigate personal, social, and academic challenges.
- Promote respectful behavior, empathy, and conflict resolution among residents.
- Address disciplinary matters promptly and in accordance with school policies.
Daily Operations
- Oversee daily routines including wake-up, meals, prep time, evening activities, and lights-out.
- Maintain attendance records, student logs, and incident reports.
- Conduct regular room inspections and ensure cleanliness and order in shared spaces.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure the living environment is safe and well-maintained.
Parental Communication & Coordination
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student welfare and development.
- Support new students during their transition into residential life and help maintain a sense of community and belonging.
- Collaborate with academic staff to support students academic performance and discipline.
Emergency Response & Safeguarding
- Respond effectively to emergencies, including illness, injury, or safety concerns, following school protocols.
- Uphold and implement the school's safeguarding and child protection policies.
Community & Enrichment
- Organize and supervise evening and weekend activities, fostering a strong boarding house culture.
- Celebrate student birthdays, festivals, and achievements to build a sense of home and community.
- Promote values of independence, responsibility, and mutual respect.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Residential pastoral care or boarding experience preferred.
- Child protection and safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake it).
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with adolescents in a residential or educational setting.
- Experience in dealing with teenage boys, including behavioural management and mentoring.
