About the Role
We are hiring a Home Textile Merchandiser for a leading global sourcing organization.
The ideal candidate should have 57 years of experience handling European buyers across categories such as kitchen textiles, bedding, bath, cushions, and decorative products. The role requires complete ownership of the merchandising cycle from product development and costing to shipment coordination along with strong vendor management and executional precision.
This is a hands-on role that demands excellent coordination between buyers, suppliers, and internal teams, and includes regular factory visits for sampling and production follow-ups.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key liaison between European buyers, suppliers, and internal teams for all product development and order execution activities.
- Manage the complete merchandising process including product development, costing, sourcing, production follow-up, and shipping coordination.
- Oversee sampling, approvals, testing, and documentation in line with buyer requirements.
- Prepare accurate costing sheets and ensure cost negotiations align with company and buyer expectations.
- Track and manage Time & Action (T&A) plans to ensure all milestones are met.
- Conduct regular vendor visits to monitor production progress, quality compliance, and timely dispatch.
- Resolve issues related to approvals, trims, delays, or quality proactively through cross-functional coordination.
- Support management with reporting, forecasting, and analysis related to orders and performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate or postgraduate degree; Diploma in Textile Design / Technology / Merchandising preferred.
- 57 years of experience in home textile merchandising.
- Prior experience with EU-based brands or buyers is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of textile product costing, sourcing, and vendor management.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and merchandising documentation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Comfortable with frequent factory visits and working under tight timelines.
Preferred Background
- Candidates from buying houses or liaison offices preferred.
- Candidates from export houses may also be considered if they have strong client communication skills.
- Exposure to home textile categories such as bed linen, cushions, bath, or kitchen textiles will be an advantage.
