About the Role:
The Head of Shipyard/Technical Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the critical operational and technical services at the shipyard, including Plant Maintenance, Civil Infrastructure, Safety & Environment, Quality Assurance & Control, Information Technology, and Industrial Engineering & Processteams. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO),this role ensures that all technicaland operational services are functioning optimally to support shipbuilding, repair, and heavy engineering projects. The Head of Yard/Technical Services leads the department heads of the respective functions and ensures alignment with the shipyard's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead teams responsible for maintenance, civil infrastructure, safety, quality, IT, and process improvement
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and support core shipyard activities
- Drive safety, environmental compliance, and best practices aligned with industry and regulatory standards
- Monitor technical service performance and recommend improvements
- Ensure quality, timely, and cost-effective support to shipbuilding and repair projects
- Collaborate with top management on budgets, technology adoption, and continuous process improvement
- Manage stakeholder relationships with regulators, vendors, contractors, and clients
Ideal Candidate:
- Engineering degree (Mechanical/Industrial or related field)
- 20+ years experience in technical operations, infrastructure management, or heavy industry (shipbuilding preferred)
- Proven record in leading cross-functional technical teams
- Strong knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental standards (ISO/Six Sigma certifications a plus)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
