Head of Quality - Fashion/ Apparel Industry

We are seeking a strategic yet hands-on Head of Quality for India operations. This role is for an experienced apparel quality leader who deeply understands the Indian manufacturing landscape, global buyer expectations, and the complexities of multi-category production. The role demands an expert who can combine technical knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, and testing standards with practical, factory-floor problem-solving skills.

You will be the key guardian of quality for all India-sourced products, ensuring they meet or exceed our customers standards for workmanship, safety, and compliance. You will drive a culture of quality excellence, supplier capability development, and data-led continuous improvement.

Quality Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and execute the India quality strategy aligned with global standards and brand requirements.
• Define and track KPIs for product quality, supplier performance, and right-first-time metrics.

End-to-End Quality Management

• Oversee quality from product development to shipment across multiple product categories.
• Ensure compliance with buyer specifications, international quality standards (AQL, ISO, ASTM, EN), and sustainability mandates.

Supplier Capability Development

• Audit, onboard, and upskill supplier factories on quality processes and defect prevention.
• Implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) with measurable results.

Customer Engagement

• Act as the primary quality interface for global customersleading reviews, sharing quality dashboards, and agreeing on improvement roadmaps.

Risk Management & Problem-Solving

• Identify quality risks early in the production cycle and implement preventive measures.
• Lead root cause analyses for critical issues and ensure permanent corrective actions.

Data-Driven Insights

• Analyse inspection, testing, and inline quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textiles, Apparel Technology, Quality Management, or related field.
• 12+ years in apparel quality management, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing multi-location quality teams and working with global fashion/lifestyle brands.

Domain Expertise

• Deep understanding of garment construction, fabric performance, and lab testing protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of Indian textile and apparel supply clusters (Tirupur, Ludhiana, Surat, Karur, etc.) and their operational challenges.
• Hands-on experience implementing and improving Quality Management Systems (QMS) in a high-volume export environment.
• Strong grasp of AQL standards, ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, and buyer-specific inspection protocols.
• Familiarity with sustainability and compliance frameworks (OEKO-TEX, GOTS, REACH, ZDHC).

• Comfort with data analysis tools for quality metrics.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
