Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Quality Head to lead and strengthen our quality function across all operations. This is a strategic leadership role, responsible for implementing world-class quality standards, managing audits, driving continuous improvement, handling customer complaints, and mentoring a high-performing QA team.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in automotive sheet metal processes, precision components, and assembly operations, with hands-on experience in quality systems, audits, compliance, and defect prevention.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System (QMS)
· Plan, implement, and sustain IATF 16949:2016 / ISO 9001 quality systems across all departments.
· Develop, maintain, and audit quality manuals, SOPs, control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection standards.
· Ensure all process flows, measurement systems, and documentation meet OEM and regulatory standards.
2. Inspection & Compliance
· Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
· Ensure calibration of all instruments and compliance with laboratory standards and testing protocols.
· Introduce advanced inspection methods such as CMM, 3D scanning, and statistical process control (SPC).
3. Audit & Certification Management
· Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits.
· Ensure audit readiness and timely closure of NCRs, CAPAs, and audit findings.
· Manage IATF / ISO recertification projects, process gap analysis, and system improvements.
4. Customer Quality & Complaint Handling
· Lead customer complaint resolution, performing structured root cause analysis and driving corrective and preventive actions.
· Ensure effective communication with OEMs and Tier-1 clients, providing quality updates and reports.
· Implement systematic tracking of warranty, rework, and field failure data to improve product reliability.
5. Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence
· Drive Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce defects, waste, and rework.
· Analyze internal rejection trends, scrap, and defect patterns to implement corrective measures.
· Identify skill gaps and conduct on-the-job training (OJT) for the quality team.
6. Supplier & Material Quality
· Collaborate with procurement & vendor development teams to ensure material and supplier quality.
· Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, PPAP, APQP, and process verification.
· Ensure incoming material compliance with specifications, including hardness, metallurgy, coatings, and dimensional accuracy.
7. Reporting & Strategic Initiatives
· Prepare and present quality performance dashboards, defect trend reports, and KPIs to senior management.
· Lead cross-functional quality projects and strategic improvement initiatives.
· Implement cost-of-quality reduction programs, minimizing rework, scrap, and warranty claims.
Desired Candidate Profile
· Education: Degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgy from a recognized institution.
· Experience: 20+ years in quality assurance / control in automotive sheet metal manufacturing.
· Proven track record of leading large QA teams, managing audits, and interacting with OEMs / Tier-1 clients.
· Deep expertise in pressing, fabrication, welding, plating, assembly, and inspection of automotive components.
