Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Head of Operations Imports & Exports to oversee the end-to-end operations of our international trade business. This leadership role will be responsible for the unit's P&L, strategic direction, operational efficiency, compliance, and global growth. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of global trade operations, supply chain intricacies, export-import regulations, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the complete operations of the Imports & Exports business unit, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
- Own and manage the P&L, driving revenue growth and profitability targets aligned with company strategy.
- Spearhead business development initiatives, expanding global reach and penetrating new markets.
- Oversee all export/import documentation, customs clearance, CHA coordination, and port handling.
- Lead the logistics and supply chain operations, ensuring on-time delivery, vendor coordination, and cost optimization.
- Direct cross-functional collaboration between Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Logistics to achieve business outcomes.
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs, delivery SLAs, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
- Build, mentor, and upskill a high-performance team; drive periodic training and performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with DGFT, EXIM policies, Customs, GST, and international trade regulations.
- Represent the company in trade delegations, government liaisons, and export promotion councils when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferred) + MBA in Operations / International Business / General Management.
- Experience: 12 to 18 years in operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within export/import, manufacturing, or engineering industries.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of export-import documentation, shipping laws, international trade compliance, Incoterms, and logistics management.
- Demonstrated experience in P&L ownership, business development, and strategic decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in SAP / ERP systems, MS Excel/PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage cross-functional teams, and deliver results in a dynamic global environment.
