JOB SUMMARY

Join J.P. Morgan's Global Research Center (GRC) in Mumbai as an Analyst in Credit Strategy. In this role, you will leverage quantitative and econometric techniques, manage large datasets, analyze macroeconomic data, and contribute to impactful publications and presentations, all while working closely with global partners to support decision-making across the platform.

J.P. Morgan's Global Research Center (GRC) was set up in Mumbai in August 2003 as an extension of the firm's global equity research teams around the world. GRC has grown steadily, and the team of analysts has expanded to provide coverage for the key sectors globally.

The Commercial & Investment Bank Research & Analytics is an integrated specialist team covering Origination (Banking and Markets), Products (Securities Services and Treasury Services), Research, Data Analytics and Strategy globally. We help global corporations, institutions and organizations of all sizes grow their businesses by providing cutting edge analytics and solutions. This group provides you an opportunity to collaborate and work in a high paced global environment and develop a wide range of technical (financial, analytical, quantitative, and coding) and interpersonal skills. Job Responsibilities

  • Working end to end on multiple time sensitive deliverables which include day-to-day monitoring of US High Yield-relevant sectors/issuers and market developments, staying on top of catalysts, flows, technicals, and fundamentals.
  • Conducting detailed analyses and deep-dive research of key market trends which include assessing news, macro developments, and industry trends for implications to spreads, ratings, and capital structures.
  • Build and maintain financial models and key credit/coverage metrics use outputs to support strategy discussion on risk, valuation, and relative value.
  • Write concise, client-ready research notes and contribute to broader thematic/sector pieces with timely market commentary.
  • Present findings clearly (written and verbal) and support market and positioning views and perspectives in internal debates and client-facing conversations under time pressure.
  • Monitor earnings and translate takeaways into a clear strategy/credit view
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance quantitative/econometric models and frameworks for forecasting, scenario analysis, and market/policy interpretation relevant to High-Yield.
  • Manage, clean, and analyze large datasets using tools such as Python (and other research toolkits) to produce charts, tables, and publication-ready outputs.
  • Perform valuation and relative value analysis across issuers, curves, and structures, with clear conclusions and actionable framing.
  • Contribute to automation and process improvement, emphasizing data integrity and reproducibility across recurring publications and templates.
  • Prepare Excel charts, Word documents, and PowerPoint materials for publications, client conferences, and recurring chart books/data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with strategists, economists, and global research teams support investor events/webinars/conferences as needed.


Essential Skills

  • 1-3 years in Research, Banking, or another rigorous analytical role strong interest in markets.
  • Strong quantitative/econometric foundation (e.g., multiple regression) and comfort working with macro/market data.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills fluency with AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis.
  • Coding skills to manipulate data and perform statistical analysis using tools such as Python (plus Eviews/VBA where relevant).
  • Strong writing and presentation skills clear, concise communication under time pressure.
  • Strong organization, prioritization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a deadline-driven team.
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg and familiarity with common financial market data sources/conventions (e.g., Bloomberg/Haver/CEIC).
  • Experience with advanced econometric/statistical techniques, machine learning, and/or natural language processing for research workflows.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word/PowerPoint) and experience producing publication-quality materials.
  • Master's degree or above in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field from reputed institutions.
