A geologist has to study the detailed history of earth and how its structure, material, form, processes and organisms have changed over time. They have to study and analyse geological time scales, geological maps, charts, aerial photographs, rock and fossils samples. Most of the time they work in the field and conduct their research in the laboratories. Thus, a geologist plays an important role in exploring important mineral wealth and natural resources for better use.

There are several opportunities coming up in this area including discovery of existing and new minerals, with Artificial Intelligence, this field is set to be really interesting in the next decade.
