Job Title: Senior Manager - Furniture Design & Detailing
Location: Daman (Della Factory)
Department: Furniture Design & Technical Engineering
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
The Senior Manager - Furniture Design & Detailing will lead the technical design, detailed shop-drawing development, and factory prototyping for bespoke luxury loose furniture, high-traffic commercial fit-outs, hospitality projects, and custom joinery at the Daman manufacturing facility.
This role acts as the critical bridge between creative design concepts and factory-floor execution transforming complex, high-spec designs into structurally sound, cost-effective, and flawlessly finished furniture for luxury residences, boutique hotels, resorts, and premier commercial spaces.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Detailing & Production Drawings
. Translate conceptual designs, renders, and interior mood boards into precise 2D/3D manufacturing drawings and CAD/shop drawings for high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial spaces.
. Create comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM), hardware specifications, and hardware cutouts for luxury loose furniture, casegoods, upholstered items, custom wall paneling, millwork, and joinery.
. Ensure clear callouts for joinery methods, structural reinforcement, tolerances, material finishes, and assembly mechanisms tailored to both handcrafted luxury pieces and large-scale commercial runs.
2. Sector-Specific Execution (Hospitality, Commercial & Residential)
. Hospitality & Commercial: Design for durability, high foot-traffic, safety compliance, and rapid site installation without compromising aesthetic appeal (e.g., fire-retardant materials, heavy-duty hardware, modular joinery).
. High-End Luxury Residential: Ensure extreme precision in fine woodworking, rare veneer matching, specialized metal/glass integration, and complex custom finishes tailored to bespoke client requirements.
3. Design Innovation & Prototyping
. Oversee the end-to-end prototyping and mock-up process (MOCK rooms for hospitality/commercial clients) alongside factory artisans, carpenters, and upholstery teams.
. Evaluate initial production samples, identify structural or aesthetic flaws, and refine drawings for final client approval and full-scale production.
. Drive material and process innovation across solid woods, veneers, engineered timber, metals, stone, leather, acrylics, and specialized architectural hardware.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Factory Operations
. Work closely with Production, Purchase, Project Management, and Quality Control (QC) teams to resolve technical manufacturing challenges on the factory floor.
. Coordinate with procurement teams to source specialized hardware, luxury fabrics, commercial-grade finishes, and raw materials.
. Support project teams to ensure client specifications, tight hospitality/commercial project timelines, and budget constraints are met.
5. Team Leadership & Quality Control
. Lead, mentor, and review the output of a team of furniture designers, CAD draftspeople, and technical detailers.
. Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for drawing formats, design libraries, and technical documentation.
. Conduct strict quality audits at the raw material, assembly, and final finishing stages prior to dispatch and site installation.
Qualifications & Experience
. Education: Degree or Diploma in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Wood Technology, or Architecture (NID, CEPT, or equivalent top-tier institution).
. Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience in furniture design, joinery detailing, and manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing plant.
. Portfolio Requirement: Proven track record delivering furniture and joinery solutions across Luxury Residential, Boutique Hospitality/Hotels, and High-End Commercial Fit-Outs.
Technical Mastery
. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, 3ds Max, or SketchUp.
. Deep knowledge of wood engineering, joinery, veneer matching, metal fabrication, upholstery techniques, and high-end surface finishes (PU, Polyester, Lacquer, Polish).
. Extensive expertise in architectural and furniture hardware systems (Blum, Hettich, Hafele, Sugatsune, etc.).
. Strong understanding of commercial/hospitality standards, material performance, and durability requirements
