A Fund Accounting Seat Where You Actually Own Something
A boutique fund administrator with a global network is hiring a Fund Accounting Manager / Assistant Manager for its Singapore team. The firm services PE, VC, and hedge fund clients with a hands-on, relationship-first model — the opposite of the factory floor experience at the large shops.
You will join a lean fund accounting team, working across preparation and review of fund deliverables while serving as the primary client contact for your portfolio. The reporting line is direct to the Managing Director — no layers, no gatekeepers, no waiting for someone three levels up to sign off on a decision you could have made yourself.
This is not a back-office seat. You are the person clients call when they need something explained, escalated, or resolved. If that prospect excites you more than it intimidates you, keep reading.
What the Role Actually Looks Like
You start as a preparer-reviewer hybrid — getting your hands into the operational detail to understand the full workflow, while also reviewing and signing off on deliverables from the fund accounting team. As you demonstrate competence, the balance shifts toward a full reviewer mandate with portfolio ownership.
On any given week, you might:
The active portfolio is predominantly PE/VC with mixed reporting frequencies — biannual, quarterly, and annual NAV cycles — plus a smaller number of hedge funds with monthly reporting. You will work across multiple accounting standards depending on the fund's jurisdiction.
This is a boutique environment. You will handle more breadth than you would at a large fund admin. In return, you get ownership, client relationships that actually matter, and autonomy that most fund accounting managers at this level never see.
What Makes You a Fit
You have spent 5 or more years at a fund administrator — on the sell-side, servicing external fund clients. You know what it means to manage overlapping deadlines across multiple funds, each with their own LPA, fee structures, and auditors.
PE and VC fund accounting is familiar territory. You can walk through a capital call notice, a distribution calculation, and a carried interest waterfall without reaching for a reference guide. You have prepared or reviewed NAV packs for closed-end funds and understand the nuances — multiple closings, management fee offsets, clawback provisions. You also recognise that annual NAV cycles do not mean lighter workload — investments, payments, and closings happen year-round, and year-end is intense.
You are technically sharp AND someone clients want to deal with. You have managed client relationships before — fielding queries, coordinating with auditors, managing expectations when timelines shift. You communicate with clarity and confidence, not just accuracy.
You are ready to contribute from the early weeks. Whether you are stepping in as a seasoned Manager who can review from day one, or a strong Senior Fund Accountant / Assistant Manager with a solid foundation who can grow into a full reviewer mandate within 6-12 months — you bring a real fund accounting base that does not require training from scratch.
You are comfortable being in the office. The team works on-site 5 days a week in Singapore. Flexibility is earned through demonstrated performance — it is not a day-one negotiation.
