Role Overview:
We are looking for a motivated Exterior Trims Engineer with 13 years of experience in automotive plastic trims design, development, and validation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of design principles, manufacturing feasibility, and fit & finish requirements for exterior components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and release exterior trim components such as bumpers, grilles, body claddings, spoilers, roof rails, etc.
- Work on CAD modelling, packaging studies, and drawing release using tools like CATIA.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Styling, CAE, Manufacturing, Quality, Suppliers) for product development.
- Ensure parts meet engineering, regulatory, and aesthetic requirements.
- Manage design changes, cost optimization, and DFMEA documentation.
- Support prototype build, testing, and validation activities.
- Resolve fitment issues during assembly and support manufacturing feasibility.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Automobile.
- 13 years of relevant experience in exterior trims development in the automotive sector.
- Proficiency in CAD tools like CATIA V5
- Knowledge of plastics, sheet metal, and painting processes.
- Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
- Basic understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
