Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineer with expertise in backend software development to design, build, and scale modern, cloud-native applications in the area of Privacy and Data Governance, building trust in our customers to responsibly use their data at a global scale by operationalizing privacy laws and data governance best practices. You will play a key role in architecting scalable systems and driving best practices across development and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with AWS services, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced database design using SQL.
Key Responsibilities:
Backend Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Python (advanced level preferred) or Java
- Build scalable APIs (REST/GraphQL) and microservices
- Ensure code quality, testing, and performance optimization
- Implement authentication, authorization, and secure data handling practices
- Integration with Kafka and Airflow
Database & Data Engineering:
- Design and manage complex schemas with advanced SQL (performance tuning, indexing, query optimization)
- Work with relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora)
- Ensure high data integrity, availability, and scalability
Cloud & DevOps:
- Architect and deploy applications using AWS services, including:
- S3 – Object storage
- EKS – Kubernetes orchestration
- EMR – Big data processing
- Lambda – Serverless computing
- Leverage additional AWS services as needed (e.g., EC2, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch)
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment
Containerization & Orchestration:
- Containerize applications using Docker
- Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (preferably EKS)
- Ensure efficient scaling, monitoring, and fault tolerance
Version Control & Collaboration:
- Manage source code using Git (branching strategies, PR reviews)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in agile environments
- Mentor junior developers and guide technical decision-making
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Advanced proficiency in Python or Java for backend development
- Strong SQL skills (complex queries, optimization)
- Experience with using Snowflake database
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS ecosystem (S3, EKS, EMR, Lambda, and more)
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes
- Solid experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Solid experience with ETL data processing
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture
- Proficiency in Git-based version control workflows
- Excellent problem-solving skills and system design capabilities
