Role Summary

  • As a member of a multi-disciplined team, deliver full power systems (including power generation and distribution, protection, power conversion, energy storage, control and automation) ensuring the design meets customer, contract, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Minimum Five years experience in carrying out power system design studies for marine/Industry (Fault Level, Protection relay co-ordination, Transient voltage dip, Electrical transient stability and Arc flash studies etc..) using ETAP, EDSA, SKM, Easy power, Matlab
  • Support the lead engineers in resolving technical issues in support of current projects, equipment under test, or in-service platforms.
  • Review solutions developed by project teams and identify opportunities for improvement of process, system, or equipment, to prevent errors.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the overall project team as appropriate including commissioning and service.
  • Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
  • Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Masters /Bachelor Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or related subject.
  • 5 - 8 years working Experience in related industry

Experience

  • Electrical engineering in Marine / industry
  • Experience in engineering design, application, testing or commissioning environment, with experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Electrical power generation and distribution systems design
  • Specifying LV / HV switchgear and transformer, motors and drives, selection and sizing of cables based on application.
  • LV and MV synchronous generators and their associated control systems (AVRs, speed governors etc.)
  • Induction and synchronous motors and their control systems
  • Propulsion / thruster variable speed drive control systems and associated automation.
  • Power system control and protection
  • LV and MV variable speed drives and motors
  • Experience of system integration working on multi-discipline projects.
  • On site commissioning of large projects.
  • Personal Qualities
  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Good personal organisational skills.
  • Circumstances
  • Willing to travel on short notice within base country and overseas for short term assignments.
