Role Title:System Software SME
Experience Range: 8–15 years
Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in ECE/CS/EE or related field
Role Summary:
A System Software SME is responsible for Leads architecture, design and delivery for low-level software that directly interacts with hardware, including operating system components, device drivers, and firmware. They ensure efficient hardware-software integration, system performance, and reliability by working closely with kernel internals, hardware interfaces, and system architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Define architecture and technical roadmap
• Lead design, development, and integration
• Ensure quality, reliability, and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HW/SW/Product)
• Mentor engineering teams and review designs
• Engage with customers and define solutions
• Performance tuning using profiling tools and optimization
Detailed Skills & Competencies:
• Strong system design and architecture expertise
• Experience in Linux kernal internals, system programming and RTOS concepts
• Device/network/multimedia driver development (GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe,I2S etc)
• Bare metal programming for 32-bit/64-bit controllers, developing device drivers for Controllers
• Hardware interaction (registers, interrupts, DMA)
• Experience in memory management, Bootloaders, interrupt handlers
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming
• Kernel development & debugging (GDB,KGDB)
• Debugging, profiling, and root cause analysis
• Platform software debugging using JTAG/ICE/Trace32 debugger
• Security firmware development using library like TLS/mbedTLS, different Crypto/Hash algorithms- AES, SHA,RSA, Secure Boot
• Experience in building Embedded Linux system using Yocto
Tools & Technologies:
GDB,KGDB, Dmesg, tcpdump,profiling tools - perf, journalctl, f/s/l- trace,valgrind, Git, SVN, GNU C/C++ build tool chain, Protocol analyzers, logic analyzer, Wireshark
Domain Expertise:
Semiconductor product engineering / embedded systems / distributed systems for Storage, networking, multimedia, industrial automation/control
