This entry-level position is ideal for freshers or those looking to start a career in medical coding and billing. The E/M IP OP role involves coding for evaluation and management services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Assign appropriate codes for billing and insurance purposes based on established guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation and coding practices are followed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations and requirements.
- Assist in training and educating staff on coding and documentation best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is an advantage but not mandatory.
