Position summary:
The Director, Data & Analytics holds the key responsibility of nurturing and guiding the team in the application of optimal practices. This role encompasses the oversight of IT staffing, encompassing recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, performance assessment, and disciplinary procedures. A pivotal aspect of the role involves crafting and effectively conveying a lucid and compelling vision and strategy for the realm of Data & Analytics, with the seamless transmission of this vision to the staff and pertinent business stakeholders. The Director, Data & Analytics will collaborate harmoniously with Operational sponsors and Solution Management teams to delineate technological solutions that harmonize with the strategic agendas of the business units. Furthermore, the incumbent will architect streamlined processes and tools to ensure the quality of data collection. In pursuit of operational enhancement, the Director will champion process refinement through the definition of business processes and congruence with systems. Integral to the role is the supervision of data quality, spanning validation, cleansing, scrubbing, ETL methodologies, data analytics and similar domains.
Essential duties & responsibilities: (detailed description)
- Data & Analytics vision and strategy:
- Execute the organization's analytics strategy, incorporating business continuity, innovation, data & analytics capabilities.
- Align data and analytics goals with overall business objectives and guide the team in achieving strategic outcomes.
- Talent Management and Development:
- Hire, lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data & analytics architects, managers, technical leads, and engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting continuous learning and development.
- Technology and Architecture Leadership:
- Oversee the selection and implementation of data technologies, tools, and platforms.
- Provide guidance on data and analytics architecture & design, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business needs.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to data & analytics landscape and technology implementation. - Ensure data security and privacy measures are in place to protect sensitive information.
- Project Oversight:
- Oversee the planning and execution of data and analytics projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. - Monitor project progress and intervene when necessary to address challenges and mitigate risks.
- Evaluate projects for unsigned contracts or out of scope requests, manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and costs.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their data needs and priorities.
- Communicate the value of data and analytics in influencing decision-making and achieving business goals.
- Vendor Management:
- Evaluate and manage relationships with external data and analytics vendors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Negotiate contracts and oversee the implementation of third-party solutions when applicable.
Education & special trainings:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (CS, IT), Data Science & Analytics, Quantitative Field or related field is required.
- Master's degree in management, Business Administration, Engineering (CS, IT), Data Science & Analytics or Quantitative Field is preferred.
- Project Management Professional Certification, Six Sigma Certification and Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) certification preferred.
Qualifications & experience:
- 13+ years of IT experience; setting priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.
- 10+ years of experience and demonstrated knowledge Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and data & analytics platforms.
- 10+ years of leadership responsibility managing internal and external teams, influencing senior-level management and stakeholders; medical device or other regulated industry preferred.
- 7+ years of experience and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse and Analytics platforms.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of Azure Synapse, PowerBI, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and other related technologies.
- Experience developing partnerships with the technical, business, and sales teams utilizing strong communication and team building skills.
- Critical Thinking: Must look at the numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings.
- Experience working with business leaders is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization structure with significant emphasis on collaboration and persuasion, rather than relying entirely on command and control.
- Experience with process mapping is required.
- Experience documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required.
- Experience understanding, evaluating, and recommending changes to business processes are required.
