Duties and Responsibilities:
Deck Cadet:
- Assist officers in navigational watchkeeping duties, including lookout and familiarization with bridge equipment (radar, ECDIS, GPS).
- Participate in deck maintenance tasks such as chipping, painting, greasing, and general cleanliness of deck areas.
- Assist in cargo operations, including loading, unloading, securing, and monitoring stowage conditions.
- Learn and apply knowledge of international maritime regulations and company safety procedures.
- Participate actively in all safety drills (fire, abandon ship, man overboard) and emergency preparedness activities.
- Assist in mooring and unmooring operations, handling ropes and lines safely.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required for training and operations.
- Familiarize with ship layout, equipment, and the functions of various departments.
Engine Cadet:
- Assist engineers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of main and auxiliary machinery, including engines, pumps, and purification systems.
- Perform routine tasks such as lubrication, cleaning of machinery, and general upkeep of engine room spaces.
- Monitor machinery parameters and gauges, reporting any abnormalities to the duty engineer.
- Learn and understand engine room safety procedures, environmental regulations, and energy efficiency practices.
- Participate actively in engine room safety drills and emergency preparedness activities.
- Assist in bunkering operations and fuel/oil transfers.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of machinery performance and maintenance activities.
- Familiarize with engine room layout, systems, and the function of various equipment.
Ordinary Seaman (OS):
- Perform general maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of the ship's hull, decks, superstructure, and equipment.
- Participate in watchkeeping duties, including lookout and helmsman duties under supervision.
- Assist in mooring and unmooring operations, handling ropes and wires.
- Carry out cargo handling tasks, including securing and lashing cargo.
- Assist in the maintenance of life-saving and firefighting appliances on deck.
- Follow instructions from officers and senior ratings, adhering to all safety regulations and company procedures.
- Participate in all safety drills and emergency response procedures.
Wiper:
- Maintain cleanliness and preservation of engine department spaces, machinery, and equipment by wiping down machinery, cleaning oil spills, and performing general cleaning duties.
- Assist engineers in the dismantling, repair, and maintenance of engine room machinery.
- Use various hand and power tools for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Assist in fueling operations and the connection/disconnection of shore services.
- Participate in engine room safety drills and follow all safety procedures.
- Support the overall operational efficiency and cleanliness of the engine department.
Qualifications:
Deck Cadet / Engine Cadet:
- Completed relevant pre-sea training program from a recognized maritime institution (e.g., Diploma in Nautical Science, B.Sc. Nautical Science, B.Tech Marine Engineering, Graduate Marine Engineering).
- Valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificates (Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility).
- Valid medical fitness certificate for sea service from a DG Shipping approved doctor.
Ordinary Seaman (OS) / Wiper:
- Completed a General Purpose (GP) Rating course or equivalent, or relevant basic maritime training.
- Valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificates (Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility).
- Valid medical fitness certificate for sea service from a DG Shipping approved doctor.
- Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC).
