Location: Bangalore- Hybrid

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist specializing in AI for Computer Vision to join our dynamic team. The role involves developing, fine-tuning, evaluating, and optimizing AI models for healthcare applications. The candidate will collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, software developers, domain experts, and product managers to deliver scalable, state-of-the-art AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities and Required Skills

  • Explore and develop innovative AI algorithms for healthcare applications.
  • Design and refine algorithms for the pre-processing and post-processing of medical images and videos across different imaging modalities.
  • Develop machine learning and deep learning solutions for image classification, object detection, segmentation, and statistical modelling.
  • Design, train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize computer vision models for real-world applications.
  • Gather, clean, annotate, and preprocess large-scale image and video datasets for model training and evaluation.
  • Evaluate model performance using relevant metrics such as IoU, Dice score, mAP, sensitivity, specificity, precision, recall, and F1-score.
  • Perform systematic experimentation, error analysis, model comparison, and, where applicable, A/B testing.
  • Maintain awareness of current developments in computer vision, deep learning, multimodal AI, NLP, and Large Language Models.
  • Work with ML engineers to deploy and scale models in production using cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into healthcare products, workflows, and business applications.
  • Follow software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews, testing, documentation, and reproducible development.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
  • Practical experience with image processing and computer vision libraries such as OpenCV.
  • Strong understanding of computer vision techniques, including classification, object detection, image segmentation, transfer learning, and model fine-tuning.
  • Experience with Git and standard software development practices.
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools and technologies such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Basic understanding of NLP and Large Language Model concepts, including transformers, tokenization, embeddings, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and model evaluation.
  • Familiarity with vision-language models, multimodal AI, or combining image and textual information is desirable.
  • Understanding of responsible and ethical AI principles, including bias assessment, explainability, data privacy, and model fairness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, or AI research.
  • At least 3+ of hands-on experience developing computer vision-based AI applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, experimentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and research-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing AI solutions for healthcare or medical imaging applications.
  • Exposure to imaging modalities such as X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, or video-based medical imaging.
  • Experience with vision-language models, multimodal foundation models, or medical report generation applications.
  • Publications in relevant AI or computer vision venues or meaningful contributions to opensource AI projects.
